Ah Leng Char Kuey Teow 亚龙炒粿条
Ah Leng Char Kuey Teow 亚龙炒粿条
We heard so many stories of Lorong Selamat Char Kuey Teow stalls but have you heard about this Ah Leng Char Kuey Teow. There are two outlets of Ah Leng Char Kuey Teow (亚龙炒粿条). The father and son team cooked in two different places, the father now only cooks at night in Air Itam while the son cooks at Kafe Khoon Hiang, Jalan Dato Keramat. This is highly recommended by the local food bloggers and I had the chance visiting this place sometime ago last year.
We went to the son’s outlet as we didn’t have time for the night session. The Ah Leng CKT is one of the most popular CKTs in Penang among the locals and I have not tried this before. We heard enough of CKT fried with fresh duck eggs but Ah Leng’s version is a weird one. As I was told by fellow blogger friend Ah Bok, the egg was cooked together with minced mantis prawn.
A regular small plate priced at RM 6.00 and the special priced at RM 10.50. To up the size or to add duck egg, it is at least 50 sen and above.
How’s the verdict? We ordered the special one with duck egg (with minced mantis prawn) and big size prawns. It is no secret the CKT is much better than most CKT in general but it is not my best preference. Don’t get me wrong, it taste good but simply not my cup of tea. However, I was told that the best is at his father’s stall at night in Air Itam. Might give that a try one day!
