Malaysian caught smuggling 1.6kg of stimulants into Japan
Yesterday, a Malaysian caught smuggling 1.6kg of stimulants into Japan. Posted on Japan Custom Facebook Official Page, it stated that ‘【Exposure Report】Osaka Customs accused a Malaysian attempting to smuggle about 1.6kg of stimulants into Japan from Malaysia.’
This could be reason why Japan Custom officers are getting stricter on Malaysian tourists this year.
We travelled to Japan three times this year and compare to recent years, the custom officer asked more questions than it used to be. In fact, we got our luggage checked even in ‘Green Zone’ (nothing to declare zone) twice this year.
They asked us many questions on where we were traveling and why are we bringing huge luggage. Our answers are simple as we told the officers that we love to travel to Japan and we love shopping in Japan too!
Please do not abuse the FREE VISA offered by Japan and please take note that it could be stricter for Malaysians to travel to Japan. There could be more questions asked by the Japan Custom officers and more checks on Malaysian baggage.
This could delay your travel time in catching a bus or train in Japan especially those late flights to Haneda International Airport from Malaysia.
