Khrua Nong restaurant is run by married couple and located along the main road in Takua Pa. The seafood offered by the restaurant is sourced daily and the restaurant is popular among the locals.
There are a few specialties at Khrua Nong which includes Tom Yum Goong, Soft Shell Crab and others.
We ordered three dishes and they are Tom Yum Goong, Soft Shell Crab with Chili Sauce and Deep Fried Threadfin Fish (Ma Yau Fish).
The Tom Yum Goong comes with generous amount of huge size prawns. The taste of the soup is sour and spicy and it complements well with the white rice. If you are big fan of Tom Yam Goong, this is a good place to visit.
The prawns are fresh and you can tell from the taste and the texture of it. There are at least four huge prawns for the Tom Yum Goong and the food prices here are value for money.
Next, we ordered fried threadfin fish or better known as ‘ma yau’ fish in Malaysia. Look at the huge size of the threadfin fish, deep fried to crispiness and complement with the fish sauce. This is comfort food and we always have this at home but this fish is very expensive in Malaysia.
Deep fried soft shell crab with garlic. Since the Michelin Guide highly recommend this dish, we ordered this. Soft shell crab deep fried to crispiness and stir fried with garlic. You will not complain on this dish. It is crispy and this is addictive.
The total bill is around THB 500 and it is value for money. We had huge prawns, threadfin fish and soft shell crabs and for that money, this is a steal. Overall, the taste of the food at Khrua Nong is very good, worth the Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition.
