The Roof @ 38th Bar
The Roof @ 38th Bar
Time for a revisit to The Roof @ 38th Bar at Mode Sathorn Hotel Bangkok. Our first visit to The Roof @ 38th Bar at Mode Sathorn Hotel Bangkok was in 2014 and it was 9 years ago. After their recent renovation, time to check out their new design as well as new menu of The Roof @ 38th Bar.
The Roof @ 38th Bar is very convenient due to its ideal location. The Mode Sathorn Hotel is just in front of the Surasak BTS Station so it is very easy to visit The Roof @ 38th Bar.
Please take note that you do not need to be a hotel guest to visit The Roof @ 38th Bar and reservation is always welcomed.
The ideal time to visit The Roof @ 38th Bar is during sunset. However, we missed the sunset by a couple of minutes and you won’t be disappointed with the night view here.
What the changed here is removed the unique mannequins and the bar top so there are more seats at the roof top bar.
They also focus on their food menu on top of their cocktail menu. This is noticeable as we reviewed some of their new food menu.
We ordered the following:
✔️ Salmon and Beetroot Salad
✔️ Truffle Potato Steak
✔️ For or Smoked (150 gram)
✔️ Flameming Tiger (250 gram)
✔️ Pan Seared Tenderloin 180 gram
✔️ The 38 Oyster Bay
✔️ Chef AEO
✔️ Yuzu Lemonade
✔️ Lychee Butterfly Pea Lemonade
✔️ Berry Lover
This is the feast we ordered at The Roof @ 38th Bar with the view to kill. Like we mentioned earlier, now they focus more on food and the The Roof @ 38th Bar menu won’t disappoint you.
Salmon and Beetroot Salad
Pan seared salmon with avocado, beetroot and French dressing. This is a salad and love to see how they incorporate beetroot with salmon. The taste is pretty good with hints of sour after taste.
Truffle Potato Steak
Deep fried potato steak with truffle and parmigiana reggiano cheese. We love the texture of the potato steak as well as the truffle taste.
For or Smoked (150 gram)
Pan seared salmon gravlax with mushroom and cream cheese
Flameming Tiger (250 gram)
Tiger prawn skewer with bell pepper, red onion, house fries and French dressing. Tiger prawns are fresh and this goes well with liquor / cocktails.
Pan Seared Tenderloin 180 gram
Pan seared black angus tenderloin with kale-wrapped mushroom, cream cheese, asparagus, buttered potato, radish with red wine sauce. Medium rare black angus cooked to perfection, we loved this!
The 38 Oyster Bay
Japanese sashimi grade oyster served with caviar, mignonette sauce, Thai spicy sauce, Thai roasted red chili paste, crispy shallot. The huge oyster is fresh and creamy with the hints of the spiciness at the end.
Chef AEO
Black spaghetti with ebiko, shrimp, bacon, black olive, garlic, dried chili, basil and parmigiana reggiano. This is extremely spicy as stated in the menu and it is recommended to ask chef to tone down the spiciness.
Berry Lover
Crème cheese mousse, greek yogurt, panna cotta, strawberry, seasonal berry, pistachio
Yuzu Lemonade
Honey syrup, yuzu syrup, orange syrup, soda water and lime juice. Refreshing mock tail that offers more than the regular lemonade.
Lychee Butterfly Pea Lemonade
Anchan juice, soda water, pink lychee syrup, lychee juice in syrup. Love this unique blend of lychee and butterfly pea lemonade.
The pricing of drinks are 350 Baht and above while for food entrees are below 1000 Baht while the mains are above 1000 Baht. There is no entrance fees to The Roof @ 38th Bar and the pricing is similar to other rooftop bars in Bangkok. We visited over a dozen rooftop bars in the past decade and the pricing is like this.
Overall, the food is good and better than expected and what we enjoy is the view from this part of Bangkok. The Roof @ 38th Bar might not be the most popular rooftop bars but with its awesome view and ideal location, you might consider visiting this place when you are in Bangkok.
