Breathtaking Views from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building
Rising amidst the towering giants of Shinjuku, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (Tocho) often gets overshadowed by its flashier neighbors. But nestled within its unassuming facade lies a secret weapon: panoramic views of Tokyo that rival any paid observation deck, completely free of charge!
I visited the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building a few times and this is definitely underrated place to visit in Tokyo. This is a true hidden gem if you ask me.
TheTokyo Metropolitan Government Building is just minutes away from the Shinjuku JR Train station and you won’t regret visiting this place.
Ascending to New Heights:
Two observation decks, one in each tower, await your exploration. Take the express elevator, and within seconds, you’ll be whisked 202 meters above the urban jungle. Each deck offers a unique perspective:
- South Observation Deck: Bathed in natural light, this deck boasts stunning daytime vistas stretching to Mt. Fuji on clear days. Spot iconic landmarks like Tokyo Tower, the Imperial Palace, and the sprawling cityscape.
- North Observation Deck : The north deck promises mesmerizing nighttime panoramas. Imagine the glittering cityscape twinkling beneath a star-studded sky.
I come early to avoid the crowd but if you want sunset view, do expect a long queue and busy crowd at the observation deck.
