Long John Silver Opens at Putrajaya
Long John Silver Opens at Putrajaya
This is something new to share! Calling all seafood lovers! There’s a new captain in town, and they’re bringing a treasure trove of delicious fish and chips. Long John Silver’s, the iconic American fast-food chain, has finally set anchor in Putrajaya, marking its first ever outlet in Malaysia again (this is their second run in Malaysia after they closed down more than a decade ago).
I saw the Long John Silver outlet in Putrajaya. The address is Jln Diplomatik, Presint 15, 62000 Putrajaya (it is a corner lot). Parking can be challenging here but no harm trying.
The first time I knew about Long John Silver restaurant was back in 1990s in Singapore. I never had a chance to try it and even in Malaysia back then when they have outlet in Mid Valley.
Moving forward to 2024, Long John Silver reopens in Putrajaya with least marketing. From what I read on Wikipedia, they opened their first restaurant at 1969 in Kentucky, United States.
In November 2022, Long John Silver’s was acquired by Four Oaks Partners, a group of investors led by Bob Jenkins, himself a Long John Silver’s franchisee and president of Charter Foods.
Since then, they are planning to expand in almost every country in Southeast Asia including Malaysia.
I went there for brunch and the outlet was empty. I went to check out the menu and they started to recommend some of their signature dishes.
I ordered Pollock Classic with Fries Combo for RM 20.90. They recommend Pollock instead of dory fish for their fish and chip set.
After couple of minutes, they serve the Pollock Classic with Fries Combo. The Pollock fish size is slightly small to my liking. The fries and normal and I ordered a Coke Zero.
There are crispy flakes at the base of the fish. The fish is crispy on the outer layer, the texture of the fish is good. The fish is tasty with hints of slight salty after taste. I read reviews online and some people said it is too salty. I felt it is okay.
To be honest, I love the Pollock Classic with Fries Combo and I hope the portion is bigger. The Pollock Classic with Fries Combo might not enough for one pax and you probably need to order another side dish. For pricing, I think it is on the high side but due to our Ringgit, this is probably the best they can offer. Considering other restaurants are selling pollock fish at higher price, this might consider value for money.
Will I come back for more? Maybe, I will bring my kids as they like fried seafood. For now, Long John Silver Opens at Putrajaya and welcome back to Malaysia!
