Exploring Hobbitoon Village Cameron Highlands
Exploring Hobbitoon Village Cameron Highlands
Fans of The Lord of the Rings, rejoice! You don’t have to travel all the way to New Zealand to experience the charm of the Shire. Tucked away about 30 minutes from the cool mountains of Cameron Highlands lies Hobbitoon Village, a new attraction bringing the magic of Middle-earth to Malaysia.
Opened in January 2024, Hobbitoon Village is a delightful recreation of the Shire, complete with hobbit holes featuring those iconic round doors. Lush greenery and winding stone paths create a whimsical atmosphere, perfect for transporting you to the peaceful home of Frodo and Bilbo Baggins.
I visited Hobbitoon Village with my family recently after Chinese New Year as my kids never visited Cameron Highlands. This is a great way to cuti cuti Malaysia with the family especially with our parents and our aunt.
Planning your Shire sojourn
Hobbitoon Village is open daily from 9AM to 6PM. Tickets are RM40 for adults and RM20 for children and senior citizens above 65 years old. Are the tickets too pricey or is it value for money.
The money spent for Hobbitoon Village is not cheap and hence there is a need for return for investment. For us, the ticket price is similar to some of the attractions in Cameron Highlands but it could be pricey for some.
Since we are here, we don’t mind paying the ticket price for Hobbitoon Village as we don’t visit Cameron Highlands every year. We paid for the ticket, this is not a sponsored post.
More than just a pretty picture?
Is Hobbitoon Village worth more than a pretty picture? To be honest, the crowd was not that bad for school holidays. Maybe the ticket price is factor of lesser people coming.
The view of the Hobbitoon Village is beautiful. There are many Hobbit houses and we counted, there are 11 of these hobbit houses.
Out of the 11 hobbit houses, only one hobbit house comes with the interior. Watch the Youtube video for reference.
There is also the Hobbitoon Café. Here, you can indulge in delightful treats and whimsical drinks that wouldn’t be out of place at a hobbit feast. Food prices are reasonable and the food here are pretty decent. The people here are super friendly and do find the tables with the view to kill.
Finding your way to the Shire
While technically not in Cameron Highlands itself, Hobbitoon Village is conveniently located just a short drive away. You can find it in Simpang Pulai, Perak, which is also about 40 minutes from the bustling city of Ipoh.
Make sure you Google or Waze the location as it could be far from some part of Cameron Highlands due to the heavy traffic at Brinchang area. So plan your journey to Hobbitoon Village.
A touch of Middle-earth in Malaysia
Whether you’re a die-hard Tolkien fan or simply looking for a charming escape into a whimsical world, Hobbitoon Village is definitely worth a visit. So, pack your walking shoes, grab your camera, and get ready to step into the Shire for a touch of Middle-earth magic in Malaysia.
Is it worth it to visit Hobbitoon Village? I think it is still okay since this is once in a blue moon. Despite the sunny day, it is windy here so it is still cooling. The crowd usually at the first few Hobbit houses and then it is pretty easy at the other Hobbit houses. At the end of the day, my boys enjoyed Hobbitoon Village Cameron Highlands and for my parents, they just love the breeze.
