How to Apply China Visa in Malaysia

When we, Malaysians travel to China for holiday, we do need a tourist L-VISA. The office is on 2^nd Floor, Plaza OSK and located opposite Menara MCA, Citibank and near KLCC, Corus Hotel and Ampang Park. Since there are many direct flights to many cities in China from Kuala Lumpur such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guilin, Nanning, Kunming, Cheng Du, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, it is easier for Malaysians to visit China. For those who wants to apply China Visa on their own, you can read on.

When I applied, it didn’t take me a long time. It is advised to apply online first (for faster application process) and apply the visa in the office. Download the form at http://www.visaforchina.org/KUL_EN/visainstruction/251836.shtml

Just go up to level two with all your documents ready and take a number. What do you need to prepare?

Tourist and family visit visa (L-visa): Issued to a foreign citizen who comes to China for tour purpose, family visit or other personal affairs.

i.Please provide the following documents:

(i) Original passport with at least two blank pages. For single entry visa, applicant’s passport should be valid at least 6 months from the date of application; for double-entry or 6 months’ multiple-entry visa, applicant’s passport should be valid at least 9 months; for 1 year multiple-entry visa, applicant’s passport should be valid at least 15 months.

(ii) One duly completed Visa Application Form (e-Form / Download) with a recently-taken passport photograph affix on it; all the items on the application form should be completed neatly with genuine information; if the applicant has a Chinese name, the Chinese name should be filled in. False or incomplete information and illegible characters may lead to refusal of a visa. If the accompanying children on the same passport are also on the tour, their photographs should be affixed on the Application Form, and the related illustration is required.

(iii) Non-Malaysian citizen applicant must provide a copy of the passport holder’s information page together with the original and a copy of the Malaysia visa.

(iv) For foreign passport holder whose Place of Birth or Origin is China (including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan), other than the basic material, applicant must furnish any one of the following additional documents:
(1) Recently applied Chinese Visa and passport (original and photocopy of the passport first page and the Chinese Visa); or
(2) Cancelled China Passport (original and photocopy of the cancelled China passport’s first page and cancellation page); or
(3) Birth Certificate or Birth Certificate Notarization (original and photocopy); or
(4) Cancelled China identity card or Registered Residence Booklet (original and photocopy).

(v) Round-trip airline ticket.

(vi) Proof of accommodation (such as the hotel reservation, invitation letter from relative or friend in China and photocopy of their identity card).

(vii) If applicant can furnish one of the following documents, applicant may apply for multiple-entry L-Visa:
(1) Real estate certificate in China (original and photocopy); or
(2) Notarized kinship or marriage certificate (original and photocopy); or
(3) At least twice China immigration entry records and photocopy.

(viii) Other additional documents requested by the Consular Officer.

Submit your application and your passport when your number is called. It was quick as they have many counters open.

A regular service takes four working days collection, express service for 3 working days collection and rush service is 1 to 2 working days collection. See the attached table for China Visa Application Fees in Malaysia.

We did the multiple entries for 24 months and we recommend multiple entries if you are traveling often like us. It is more worth it to apply for 24 months.

Notes:

(1) Visa Fees are collected on behalf of the Chinese Embassy.
(2) Application Service Fees are charged by the Centre.
(3) The total amount of the fees to be paid by an applicant = visa fees + application service fees.

Return to the office as requested and take the number for collection. Remember you have to pay upon collection. Wait for your number to be called and you can collect your passport with your visa. Check your visa carefully when you collect. Applying China Visa is that simple!

Remember if you are frequent flier to China, do the 24 months multiple entry VISA.
