It is one of the most remote airports in South America and it is located in the Patagonia region of Argentina. It is the Comandante Armando Tola International Airport, an airport in Santa Cruz Province.
It is located approx. 21km east of the city of El Calafate. El Calafate is a town near the beautiful Perito Moreno glacier.

The airport is jointly operated by the government and London Supply and it is only served by Aerolineas Argentinas (airlines), LAN Argentina and LADE.
The airport was opened since November 2000 and it is also used as the main entrance to Los Glaciares National park.
Due to the popularity of Perito Moreno glacier, El Calafate town boomed to a successful tourist town. With the influx of tourists from around the world, the airport is getting more passengers than ever.
I was there in a trip with fellow Malaysians driving from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia and making a two nights pit stop at El Calafate.
