Doi Tung Royal Villa
Doi Tung Royal Villa
Doi Tung Royal Villa is the home of HRH Princess Srinagarinda at Doi Tung. It is located in Doi Tung next to Mae Tha Luang Garden. The royal villa was built with Princess Mother’s private funds and she stayed in the villa on November 23, 1988 for 10 months as she spent time on her projects on Doi Tung Development Project. The project is to improve the lives of the local people.
The Doi Tung Royal Villa is located next to the beautiful Mae Tha Luang Garden and there is an entrance fee of 90 Baht per person.
You can’t take pictures in the royal villa and you will be given the audio unit (similar to those in Europe).
We love to visit places like this. We will take our time listening to the audio from one section to another. This is the things we do when we travel around in Asia, Europe or around the world. It is the understanding of the history and culture of the place.
The interior is simple and yet elegant. We were amazed by the architecture and also the maintenance of the villa.
The highlight of the villa is the light bulbs representing the stars in the centre of the ceiling designed by the Astronomy Society of Thailand. It showed the position of the constellations on 21 October 1900, the day the Princess Mother was born.
