Mandarin Hotel Bangkok is one of the pioneer four starred hotels in the capital. Opened since 1965, many mistaken Mandarin Hotel as the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Bangkok. With its rich history, many still believe that the hotel still remained the same including most of my local friends.

However, the truth is the hotel closed down a few years ago for full refurbishment. The renovation took a few years to complete and now the hotel looks like a brand new hotel. The new look is to cater the current generation of smart and savvy travellers.

On top of the new look, Mandarin Hotel is also a smoke free green hotel. This is their commitment for health and safety, pollution, air quality and overall environment. Since it is a green hotel, guests are not allowed to smoke in the hotel room or within the hotel compound.

The hotel also won a few awards from Expedia after their refurbishment. They won the Top Producer by Room Nights 2015 and Nominee of Top 5 Producer by Revenue 2015.

The Mandarin Hotel is located near the MRT Samyan Subway Station, Chamchuri Square and Wat Hua Lam Phong Temple.

The hotel caters to many tour groups so there are many staffs waiting to greet you in the lobby.

The lobby is bright with glossy shiny floors and you won’t be disappointed with the services of the experienced staffs here.

The hotel room is a medium size room. It comes with a King Size bed, flat screen TV, working desk, side desk, wardrobe and complimentary mineral water and snacks.

WIFI is FREE and there is a microwave in the room. This is handy to reheat food we bought from 7 eleven or Family Mart.

The bathroom is small but it is bright and clean.

It comes with the standing shower with standard water heater and also bathroom amenities.

The plus point of this hotel is the toilet. They installed the Japanese style toilet bidet system in the room. If you travel to Japan before, you know such toilet bidet system is quite common and useful too.

If you never experienced a toilet bidet system like this, you will probably have a little culture shock on your buttocks. After a few buttons, you will get the hang of it. Especially the enema button.

The breakfast is a mixture of Asian and Western cuisine and you will spoil with choices. The food for their breakfast in general is good and we love their Thai food.

We stayed a few nights in Mandarin Hotel Bangkok and we enjoyed our stay. Since it is near the MRT Station, traveling around is easy and we did visit the Wat Hua Lam Phong temple too. There are many restaurants in Chamchuri Square too.
