Top 6 Reasons To Visit Langkawi

We visited Langkawi in 2007 before we revisited the island recently. Thus, we see many positives from our five days trip on this beautiful island. We rented a car and drove around the island for destinations and food. Thus, we stayed in a couple of hotels too on this trip.

Based on our experience, we summarized our thoughts in Top 6 Reasons To Visit Langkawi. Maybe it is time for you to visit the island again.

1.Flying to Langkawi Is Cheap

Flying to Langkawi within Malaysia is cheap. There are plenty of promotions from airlines and you can get really cheap air fares. Whether you are flying with Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Malindo or Firefly, you just need to wait for the promos or book early to fly cheap. On our trip to Langkawi, we flew with Malaysia Airlines but we were really spoilt with choices.

For super peak season, you can easily get airfares around RM 200 or less for return ticket. That is really cheap compare to other destinations in Malaysia.

For other times, you can easily get return tickets for less than RM 150. The airfare is probably cheaper than your taxi fares from Kuala Lumpur to the airport.

2.Many accommodations 

When we went in 2007, we were disappointed by the accommodations available back then. The stay and the experience was horrible. Moving forward to 2016, we saw many new hotels are built on the island especially the Cenang area.

We stayed a few nights here and there in Langkawi. From budget to luxury hotels, we were very impressed. Even for boutique and budget hotels, the rates are reasonable and the service is way better than it used to be. The front desk and service staffs are friendlier and courteous. You can hear greetings whenever you meet them and this is the progress of their public relation skills.

Langkawi is a duty free island. This means you can get really good deals on ciggies, alcohols, chocolates and many more. We don’t really encourage people to smoke but they are cheaper in Langkawi. Overall, the food is above average and of course you can’t compare to the ones in Penang, Melaka and Kuala Lumpur. In our opinion, you still can find good food in Langkawi.

For breath taking view of the island, you need to visit Langkawi Skycab and Skybridge. You will be mesmerised by the natural beauty of the island and the Andaman Sea. Your heart will be literally stopped when you walk around the Skybridge overlooking the forest and the sea.

There are a few 3D museums in Langkawi if you are traveling in a group. Lots of photographs and lots of fun.

Island hopping is another must do activity in Langkawi or you can also do the mangrove forest tour. If you want a memorable evening, the sunset cruise dinner is a must to do.

We were quite surprised to find many beautiful sandy beaches on the island. Pantai Cenang, Pantai Tengkorak, Tanjung Rhu are some of the recommended beaches on the island.

6.It is affordable

For Malaysians, you don’t need to have a passport and it is cheaper to travel local since the ringgit depreciate against other currencies in this few years.
