KL’s Curry Laksa is No 2 of Lonely Planet Ultimate Eatlist

We read it first at Malay Mail today as Kuala Lumpur’s curry laksa is the top two of Lonely Planet Ultimate Eatlist food experience. You read it right, it’s the Kuala Lumpur’s curry laksa and not the Penang’s version.

The Lonely Planet Ultimate Eatlist includes Top 500 food experiences around the world. It is ranked by some of the world’s top chefs and features contributions from top chefs such as Jose Andres and US Food TV host Andrew Zimmern.

The number one food experience comes from Pintxos in San Sebastian, Spain. Kuala Lumpur’s curry laksa hits second spot while sushi in Tokyo Japan gets the final top three spot.

The others food experiences in Top 10 includes Beef brisket in Texas (4), USA, Som tum in Bangkok, Thailand (5), Smørrebrød in Copenhagen, Denmark(6), Crayfish in Kaikoura, New Zealand(7), Bibimbap in Seoul, South Korea(8), Pizza margherita in Naples, Italy(9) and finally Dim sum in Hong Kong (10).

A glance at the top 10 food experiences, the list is pretty interesting. Please take note this is food experiences so it is not just about food tasting. We just proud to see a Malaysian dish or Kuala Lumpur dish listed at the top two food experiences for this Lonely Planet Ultimate Eatlist. This is well deserved in our opinion.

Kuala Lumpur’s curry laksa comes with either noodles or kuey teow (rice noodle) or both, sliced chicken, siham (cockles), beansprout, tau-fu pok (beancurd puff) and more with curry based. Some includes pork skin, fried beancurd skin and others.

Lonely Planet Ultimate Eatlist  will be released on 15 August 2018 and hope to see the entire top 500 food experiences list. For more info, visit them at https://www.lonelyplanet.com/ultimate-eats
