The Mid-Autumn Festival is happening next month and it is time to recommend some of the mooncakes we tasted recently. This year, we were invited for the mooncake review at Dynasty restaurant in Renaissance Hotel Kuala Lumpur. It is one of the few mooncake reviews we covered for 2018.

We realised that many hotels are offering fancy and unique mooncake boxes for Mid-Autumn Festival every year. The focus is shifted to the box rather than the mooncake itself.

The Mid-Autum Festival is a popular festival among the Chinese community around the world, mooncakes are a traditional delicacy and a must-eat during the festivities.

The Dynasty restaurant in Renaissance Hotel offers a selection of 14 types of baked and snowskin mooncakes using pure and natural ingredients, our classics such as the Pandan lotus paste with single salted yolk, low sugar White lotus paste with single salted yolk, Assorted nuts & seeds and Red bean paste are perennial favorites on the menu annually.

Traditionally made of lotus seed paste embedded with a salted egg yolk, our modern makeover with memorable new flavors for this season include low sugar White lotus with Chinese chestnut and Dragon fruit & lotus paste with mango.



Offering besides the conventional baked mooncakes, Dynasty has six varieties of snowskin mooncakes. These are Durian paste, Dragon fruit & lotus paste with single egg yolk, Yam paste with single egg yolk, Mango paste with single yolk & raisin, Honey lotus paste with chocolate and Green tea lotus paste with black sesame. This is ideal as gifts for business associates, family and friends, the mooncakes are packaged in signature boxes with any choice of four pieces of traditional mooncake or six pieces of mini snow skin.

We always prefer the snow skin mooncakes than the traditional baked mooncakes. For the taste, the quality of Dynasty restaurant mooncake is always good overall.

We enjoyed the traditional flavours as usual and like we mentioned earlier, they are focusing on the mooncake taste rather than the mooncake box or cases.

Be it the baked classics or the snowskin ones, these mooncakes are available for purchase at Dynasty Restaurant from 16 August to 24 September 2018 and at Mid Valley Megamall from 6 to 24 September 2018.
