Low Yong Moh Hakka Dim Sum Restaurant Jalan Tokong Melaka
Low Yong Moh Hakka Dim Sum Restaurant Jalan Tokong Melaka
It has been a while since we posted Melaka food so this is one of the recent restaurant we visited this year. This is one of the hidden gems that is not popular with tourists. Low Yong Moh Dim Sum Restaurant opened since 1947 and it is one of the oldest restaurants in Melaka. They are located at 32, Jalan Tokong Melaka and they open daily for breakfast except Tuesdays. Low Yong Moh is owned by the Hakka from Fui Chiew.
The Low Yong Moh Hakka Dim Sum Restaurant is located near the junction of Jalan Tokong and Jalan Hang Lekiu and this place is popular for three places of worship, Masjid Kampung Kling, Sri Poyyatha Vinayagar Moorthi Temple and Cheng Hoon Teng Temple. The Low Yong Moh Hakka Dim Sum Restaurant is located opposite Masjid Kampung Kling.
We went there around 8 am during Chinese New Year’s Eve. There were lots of locals and some tourists and most of their ‘pao’s were sold out. Apparently, Low Yong Moh Hakka Dim Sum Restaurant is popular with their variety of ‘pao’.
This is a typical ‘kopitiam’ style in Melaka old buildings as you can tell from the design and architecture of it.
They will cook the dim sum first and then they will bring it to your table on a tray and you choose the dim sum. You can find many typical Malaysia style dim sum such as siu mai, prawn dumpling, steamed pork, bacon dumpling, pork roll and more.
The dim sum here is pretty decent and it is cheaper than what you pay in Kuala Lumpur. For the taste, it is strong in flavour, true Hakka style dim sum. Let’s be honest, we enjoyed the dim sum here for the price we paid.
We ordered the egg yolk pao as the other paos were sold out. The texture of the pao is soft and it comes with generous amount of the egg yolk custard. We ordered two more paos after we tasted it.
Low Yong Moh Hakka Dim Sum Restaurant Jalan Tokong Melaka is a very old restaurant and many locals know about this place. The good thing is most of its customers are locals and the price is still reasonable. The dim sum in general are decent while the paos are their top sellers. They open 6 am to 1 pm daily except Tuesday:
