Have you heard of the Bangkok Bus Food Tour? This is the brand new gastronomic experience with Michelin rated street food served in a moving double decker bus around the Old Bangkok. Bangkok Bus Food Tour started last year and not many people know about them.
They offered various gastronomic experiences and we chose the ‘Wonder Lunch’ starting at 11 am. The Wonder Lunch includes six courses meal on the double decker bus and it will take two hours.
The meeting point is River City Bangkok Building No.23 room 163 Soi Charoen Krung 24, Talat Noi, Samphanthawong, Bangkok.
There is a dedicated office and you need to check in 15 minutes earlier before 11 am. We purchased the ticket via KKDay at https://www.kkday.com/en/product/28575?cid=8500 as it is easy, fast and convenient.
The bus is a 24 seater car, the food is prepared at the lower deck while the guests will be seating on the upper deck of the bus. You will be ushered to your seat according to your booking. The design and the setting of the tables and seats are very luxurious.
The tables are custom made with USB charging sockets, glass holders with table mat and luxurious tableware.
We love the tableware, the set up of the table with the towel and the orchid. It feels very spacious on the upper deck and you have a clear view of the outside. There is a tour guide and she will speak in Thai and English throughout the bus tour.
The Wonder Lunch includes two hours of bus tour and it will drive pass the following tourist attractions in Old Bangkok and they are:

There will be waitresses serving the dishes. The food is cooked from various restaurants and it will be served while the bus is moving. The tour guide will explain the history and origin of every single dish. There are two restaurants are in the Michelin guide and they were popular street food.
This is crispy Thai rice cakes served with coconut dip. This bite size rice cake is feels like crackers with sweet coconut dip.
Miang Kleeb Bua is Thai royal traditional appetizer with roasted coconut fakes with many Thai herb wrapping with pink lotus petal. This is our first time tasting Miang Kleeb Bua, crunchy coconut flakes texture with taste of from the coconut and the edible pink lotus petal.
This Yentafo is the Thai version of ‘yong tau fu’. This is prepared by Michelin Guide rated restaurant Nai Ouan Yentafo Bateng Sao Chingcha. The Nai Ouan Yentafo Bateng Sao Chingcha restaurant is a 50 year old restaurant serving yentafo near the Giant Swing.
The yentafo is made from fish paste and it serves with flat noodles with sauce. There is the tofu yentafo, fish ball and the crispy yentafo with the noodles. The noodles are smooth and tasty and it complements well with yentafo and the sour taste of the sauce.
Thip Samai’s Pad Thai is very popular among the locals and it is rated as one of the best pad thais in Bangkok. The uniqueness of this pad thai is it is wrapped with the egg with two huge prawns. Don’t forget to sprinkled the noodles with the lime and eat with the that thick beansprout.
The Thai Massaman Chicken Curry once voted at the best food by CNN. This version of Massaman chicken curry is savoury, sweet and with a bit of spiciness complements perfectly with Thai rice.
This is something we always have when we travel to Thailand. This is Khao Hiew Mamuang or the mango sticky rice. This is sweet mangoes with the fragrant sticky rice and mix it with the rich and creamy coconut milk. We can have this every meal.
To end the Wonder Lunch, you can option for coffee or tea. The bus tour will end around two hours and back to the River City Mall Bangkok. If you plan to visit the IconSiam, just walk to the jetty and wait for the free shuttle boat. The River City Mall Bangkok is located at the opposite of IconSiam across the Chao Phraya River.

It was an informative and gastronomic two hours ride with Bangkok Bus Food Tour and we were happy to taste the two Michelin Guide restaurants dishes. The bus ride was smooth and memorable as the people outside looking at us enjoying Michelin rated food while it is hot and sunny out there.
