Dai Cha Dim Hong Kong Restaurant Pavilion Bukit Jalil

Dai Cha Dim Hong Kong Restaurant Pavilion Bukit Jalil

We went to Pavilion Bukit Jalil yesterday and right after we exited the car park, we noticed the Dai Cha Dim Hong Kong Restaurant are open. We went to the Pavilion Bukit Jalil opening two months ago and we noticed that there are more restaurants and retail outlets are open now but the crowd is still lesser than expected even though its weekend.

We never been to any of Dai Cha Dim Hong Kong Restaurant outlets, why not? This is a Hong Kong style restaurant and they offer some of the usual food like Polo Bun, HK Milk Tea and some HK inspired dishes.

We were informed by the staffs that Polo Buns were sold out so we ordered the other HK style food. We ordered Shrimp Roe and Wonton Noodles, Steamed rice with char siu and pork lard, Shrimp paste fried rice, Char Siu and Siew Yoke and Chilled Mango Sago.

Ordering is via QR code so we took the photo of the menu. To be honest, we like the idea of contactless menu but we still like the physical menu.

Steamed rice with char siu, egg and pork lard. This is for my boy and he loved this. To be honest, the first impression is the char siu looks good.  The combination is really good, the fried egg, pork lard and the char siew. The char siu is tender and almost melt in the mouth and it complements with rice. The pork lard offers the fragrant to the rice and my boy loved this.

Shrimp roe with wonton noodles. This is something we usually order whenever we travelled to Macau and Hong Kong and hence we ordered this. The taste is noodles is slightly salty so manage your expectation. They are generous with shrimp roe and they added pork lard to add more fragrant and flavour to the noodles. For their wontons, it is fill with prawns and it is fresh so overall this shrimp roe with wonton noodles are acceptable.

Shrimp paste fried rice is for my youngest boy. We tasted the fried rice and it comes with the taste of th shrimp paste. In terms of flavour and wok hei, this is not too bad and my boys finished this fried rice. That is a statement of a good fried rice.

We ordered an extra side dish of roast pork (siew yuk) and char siu. The char siu is almost melt in the mouth while the siew yuk is tender but the skin is not crispy. It will be perfect if the siew yuk skin is crispy so that is a little let down. We went there for early dinner and probably that is the reason.

Lastly, we ordered the Chilled Mango Sago. The taste of the dessert is sweet and addictive but it is missing the mangoes (probably sold out) with bits of pomelo. We really enjoyed this Chilled Mango sago but without the bits of mangoes, it is slightly let down.

We read that over 20 restaurants are open at Pavilion Bukit Jalil right now and Dai cha Dim Hong Kong Restaurant is one of them. The food is slightly pricey similar to Pavilion KL pricing so please take note on that. Inflation plus shopping mall rental, food prices are more the less like that in 2022.
