Maya Bay and Loh Samah Bay will be closed for two months this year
For those who are planning to visit Krabi or Phuket and plan to visit Maya Bay or Loh Samah Bay, please take note that it will be closed for two months this year. Maya Bay and Loh Samah Bay will be closed from 1 August to 30 September 2022.
This is part of the The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Thailand annual plan to allow nature to recover from the impact of tourism.
Maya Bay was closed for three years and only reopened to tourist on Jan 1 2022 for the purposes of natural rehabilitation.
Maya Bay and Loh Samah Bay will be closed from 1 August to 30 September 2022 so please be aware of the dates if you are planning to visit Krabi or Phuket.
I strongly believe this is a good thing as it allows Maya Bay and Loh Samah Bay to recover from the impact of tourism. I visited both places in 1992 and 2011 and there are differences in terms of numbers of tourists.
