Hani Steamfood Restaurant Jalan Puchong
Hani Steamfood Restaurant Jalan Puchong
There are many steamboat restaurants in Klang Valley but only a handful of steam food restaurants. This is Hani Steamfood Restaurant and it is located at Jalan Puchong (opposite OUG Parklane).
You can easily spot the two storey building and the restaurant is located on the upper floor. There is a huge LED screen at the front of the restaurant. There are stairs leading to the restaurant or you can take the lift. Parking is not a problem here as there are ample of parking spaces available here.
There are a few sections of the restaurants. The open area section or the VIP room section with air condition. We highly recommend everyone book the VIP room (minimum spending required).
We were there for dinner and these are food we ordered:
US Oyster XL Size with White Wine
Steam Tiger Prawns
Steam Flower Siakap
Salted Baked Lala
Deep Fried Cauliflower
Black Tofu
Curry Lamb
Garlic Butter Crab
Flower Crab Porridge
Lemongrass Chicken
Kam Heong Fried Rice
Steam Rice Cake
We booked for a VIP room that comes with KTV. The table is big enough for 10-12 people and the room can expands to a few rooms. Now, let’s talk about the food.
US Oyster XL Size with White Wine. This is served in a wine glass with white wine and you can taste the freshness of the oyster as well as the wine. This is a good starter to get the dinner going.
Black Tofu is fried tofu infused with charcoal bamboo. The bite size black tofu is crispy on the outer layer and soft at the inner layer. It comes with three sauces and they are Cream Cheese, Mayo Wasabi and Lime Parsley Sauce. Creamy cheese comes with creamy texture, the mayo wasabi is sweet with hints of wasabi and the lime parsley sauce comes with hints of acidic taste and it offers a very refreshing taste.
I prefer the Mayo Wasabi sauce while some of my friends prefer the cream cheese while the rest prefer the lime parsley. Taste is subjective depending on preferences but most important, the black tofu is tasty.
Steam Tiger Prawns is one of their signature dishes and it is steam using their ‘UFO’ like steamer from ceiling. It takes 7 minutes for the UFO steamer to cook the tiger prawns.
What is unique is the flavours and juices from the tiger prawns will flow down to the porridge at the bottom. We will talk about that flower crab porridge in a bit as the focus on the tiger prawns.
The tiger prawns are steamed to perfection. The texture is good, the taste is fresh and it is good on its own or you can dip into the three sauces earlier.
We prefer to eat it without the sauce so we can taste the original taste.
Flower Crab Porridge is next. The porridge is cooked with the flower crab for the flavor and you get hints of the sweetness of the taste of the tiger prawn. The porridge will be added with spring onion and fried scallion to bring out the aroma of the porridge.
The taste of the flower crab porridge is light with the aromas of the scallions, the texture is good and this very enjoyable.
Steam Flower Siakap (barramundi). We love this steam flower siakap on how they skillfully slice the fish onto fish fillets. It is steamed to perfection as each and every single fish fillet comes with great texture. You can really taste the freshness of the fish with amazing texture. This is a must order.
Deep Fried Cauliflower is something rather unique. The outer layer is deep fried to crispiness while maintaining the texture. The taste is light and yet enjoyable.
Salted Baked Lala on hot plate. This is probably my second time seeing the salted baked lala on hot plate.
The fun part is the lala will slowly open once the hot plate is heat up. It absorbs the taste of the sea salt below and hence the taste is maintain with great texture. The size of the lala is huge and this is something different than the usual lala dishes.
Curry Mutton is creamy and we love the soft texture of the meat. The taste of the curry is not too spicy, sauce is creamy and rich. It comes with potatoes and this complements well with rice.
Garlic Butter Crab is for crab lovers. The crab comes with the crispy garlic and the outer layer is coated with the butter layer.
Crab is very fresh and we enjoyed that crispy texture from the garlic and the coasted taste of the butter.
Lemongrass Chicken is something rather close to home. This creamy lemongrass chicken comes with potato and tomato and the kids will love this. With the hints of the lemongrass, this complements well with rice.
Kam Heong Fried Rice is not your usual fried rice. We love the flavor of this rice and it offers spiciness at the end of every bite. It is really fragrant and we enjoyed having this. This is our first time having a kam heong fried rice and we loved it!
Lastly, it is the dessert and it is the Steam Rice Cake. The homemade rice cake is once again steamed by that huge ‘UFO’ steam machine.
After it is cooked, it is then topped with the freshly grated coconut flesh. This is probably one of the best steam rice cake we had for some time and the generous amount of the dried coconut flakes.
Overall the food at Hani Steamfood Restaurant is good. The seafood here is very fresh and it offers natural original taste without much seasoning. The food prices are depending on seafood weight but it is still manageable. If you are looking at pork free and fresh seafood, you should visit Hani Steamfood Restaurant at Jalan Puchong.
