Durian Lava from Sisaket Thailand
Durian Lava from Sisaket Thailand
Since it is durian season, let’s talk about the Durian Lava from Sisaket Thailand. We were told that this is probably the best durian in Thailand and it is from the northeast province of Sisaket.
Last week, we were invited to visit three provinces in Thailand and they are Surin, Sisaket and Buriram. You might never heard of this provinces as they are not the top tourist places in Thailand but it doesn’t mean that we can’t promote it right?
Why is it called Durian Lava?
We were told that there is an inactive volcano near Sisaket and during the last eruption, the lava formed the soil in Sisaket. That is the reason why durians farmed with lava soil offers better taste and quality.
Please take note that Thailand durian and Malaysia durian is different in terms of taste and texture so do manage your expectation.
The durian lava we tried is from Monthong Durian. The uniqueness of this durian lava is the crispy / hard crust with creamy texture within.
We have tried quite a number of Thai durians. The Thai durians that are similar to Malaysia durians are available in Betong Thailand.
This Durian Lava for instance is quite unique. The outer layer of the durian is as hard as a thin layer shell but the inner layer is creamer. For the taste, it is pretty decent for Thailand durian.
The Durian Lava is sold at 180 Baht/ kg in Sisaket and we are not sure how much it can fetch in Bangkok or other parts of Thailand.
The Durian Lava is definitely something different than the usual Thai durians and we are grateful to be able to taste it in Sisaket. We would like to thank Tourism Authority of Thailand to invite us to discover Surin, Sisaket and Buriram.
