No Malaysians Affected by Siam Paragon Shooting Incident
It is very heartbroken to know that there was a shooting incident at Siam Paragon Bangkok yesterday. We all know Thailand is a very welcoming and friendly country for tourism but it is unfortunate that such incident happened. The Malaysian government just released a press release that there are no Malaysians affected or involved by Siam Paragon Shooting Incident.
The press release is as below.
As for now, two people have passed away while five people were injured. For the two victim who passed away, one is from China and one is from Myanmar. For the five people who were injured they are foreigners as well as locals.
From what we understand, the HRH Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and his family were at nearby hotel during that incident. He shared his experience on his social media after the incident.
This is a very rare shooting case in any shopping malls in Bangkok or Thailand. The shooter is a 14 year old teenager with mental health condition. He is a mental patient at Rajavithi Hospital. He is arrested by the security officers.
Another thing I need to mention is the bravery of the security as well as the staffs of Siam Paragon who risked their lives to evacuate the public during the shooting incident. Some of them were being shoot at while evacuating the public.

This is a very sad incident for Bangkok and Thailand. I noted my friend Roger Wu was in the mall too during that incident. I am glad there are no Malaysians Affected by Siam Paragon Shooting Incident and prayers for all the victims involved.
Is Bangkok still safe? The answer is yes and there will be more precautions by the local authorities in the upcoming days and weeks.
Am I traveling to Bangkok soon? I have plans to Bangkok but I have not locked the dates yet. Remember, this is an isolated incident involving a mental health teenager. Prayers and condolences for the victims and the public who got traumatized by this incident.
