Thomas Cup 2010 Malaysia Vs. Japan Live Experience: BWF Proton Thomas & Uber Cup Final
Thomas Cup 2010 Malaysia Vs. Japan Live Experience
Badminton is one of the most important and celebrated sport in Malaysia. Badminton is also popular in neighbouring countries such as Singapore and Indonesia. The sport has inspired many youngsters to take up the sport and also idolized players such as Lee Chong Wei, the silver medalist of 2008 Olympic. He is conferred “Datukship”, a title recognition from the king.
Thomas Cup, is one of the most important tournaments in the badminton history. Malaysia is currently hosting the latest edition of the prestigious Thomas Cup.
I went to watch the group match between Malaysia and Japan yesterday. This is my second time watching a live badminton game after more than 10 years.
I reached the stadium late, queuing up for a ticket. It was a last minute decision. A stranger then offered me his ticket as his friend didn’t turn up, I couldn’t ask for more. It wasn’t a black ticket, he sold to me the usual price, RM 68.
Checking in the stadium, the atmosphere was tense. Lee Chong Wei took his game easily. His Japanese opponent tried to fight back but it wasn’t his day. The stadium wasn’t that full but it was lively!
Local supporters brought drums and sponsored plastic banners to cheer for our local team. Many other supporters were there as well.
There were food stalls within in the stadium area but the food is slightly pricey. The whole place was well maintained and everyone was in a happy mood.
I managed to watch the second game which the Malaysian first doubles won easily and I left early to fetch wife Rachel from work.
At the end of the day, Malaysia was shocked with a 3-2 defeat to Japan but the experience is priceless.
And the best part was, I bought the tickets for the Finals this weekend. Only upper tier tickets are available, the rest was sold out. Regardless, I will be coming for the finals this weekend with Rachel!
Please do come down and support Malaysia for the upcoming matches. Malaysia Boleh! (Malaysia Can!)

Being an avid badminton fan, I have high hope in yesterday’s game but I was so frustrated to watch the game live from the comfort of my home. Felt like banging our 2nd double’s head against the wall!
frankly, I was disappointed with Malaysia’s performance. Even if they won the game against the Japanese, sooner or later they will falter in the semis (Indonesia) or final (China)
Now that they couldn’t top Group B, they will have to face China sooner in which I think this is as far as they will go! No offense but it’s far cry from the performance of our ’92 Malaysian team!

Well, its not just me. ME also. I paid RM 68 for the match. Well, we grew up watching badminton. Watching now Malaysia Vs Denmark live in office.
where to buy the ticket?
Well, the best way is to go to Bukit Jalil and purchase at the ticket counter in front of the stadium. Or else visit http://www.ticketpro.com.my but online tickets is only available 2 days in advance.
I didn’t buy the semi final tickets which I still feel bad about it, bought the finals tickets only left upper tier tickets.
gud luck malaysia
