Is it worth it to MH Upgrade to Business Class
Are you flying with Malaysia Airlines and wants to upgrade to Business Class Cheap? If you are interested then you should understand more about MH Upgrade. The first time I use MH Upgrade was 9 years ago for a family trip to Taipei and recently, I tried MH Upgrade again to Business Class for my flight from Kuala Lumpur to Chiang Mai. Is it worth it?
First of all, this is not a sponsored post by Malaysia Airlines and I will give an honest review about my recent MH Upgrade.
I was offered ‘Instant Purchase’ for RM 325 (excluding RM 42 tax) for the upgrade. If you refer to the photo below, the MH Upgrade offer starts from RM 385. For that reason, I took the MH Upgrade to Business Class as it was instant purchase and not bidding.
This is for one way from Kuala Lumpur to Chiang Mai only and not for return ticket. Consider I paid RM 778 for the return ticket, paying extra RM 385 for business class is worth it.
Here are the MH Upgrade Perks:
Business Class Check In
I get priority check in at Business Class Check In counter with Checked Baggage of 40kg and Priority Baggage Handling. This saves me a lot of time checking in on the usual economy class counters.
Golden Lounge
One of the main reasons of getting the Business Class is getting access to the Golden Lounge. I had the access to Golden Lounge Regional and the usual price is RM 279 per person.
I enjoyed the nasi lemak and the service here at Golden Lounge. However, I wish they have more food option at the Golden Lounge.
Business Class – B737-8
This is the Boeing 737-8 flight and I was invited to their launch event last year. The main reason there are not many takers for this particular business class is there is no In Flight Entertainment.
I have no complains on the seat size but no In Flight Entertainment for business class seems weird for me.
For the food, I have no complaints as they are good. I had Nasi Kerabu Gulai Ayam and it was good. I see improvement for the food here and hope it is consistent.
Due to my on going weight loss program, I didn’t ask for alcohol and I stick with Illy Coffee with fresh milk.
Overall
Paying extra RM 367 for MH Upgrade to Business Class is definitely worth it. The access to Golden Lounge is RM 279 and this means I am paying extra RM 88 for the business class upgrade, why not?
For the return flight, I was offered RM 367 again for business class but I decided not to take it as I wanted to experience the economy class. Will I upgrade again with MH Upgrade to Business Class? Of course, I will for the right price!
