Babi Guling at Warung Babi Guling Ibu Roka Ubud Bali
We didn’t manage to savour the infamous Babi Guling on our first visit to Bali due to the Nyepi celebrations. Hence, on our second trip to Bali for our honeymoon, we determined to taste it.
What is Babi Guling?
Babi Guling is the Balinese version of suckling pig. Babi Guling if translated in English is “rolled pork”. The recommended place for this was the Warung Babi Guling Ibu Roka.
Ibu Roka is located in Central Bali town of Ubud. It is near many tourist attractions so planning your visit there will not be a big hassle.
So what was their starter? How about crispy fried pork skin? It took us by surprise because this crispy fried pork skin was similar to Thailand style of crispy pork skin.
Since our motive was the Babi Guling, we ordered the pork only. It was best complimented with fragrant rice topped with fried shallots.
How was the babi guling? Crispy fried skin with tender meat underneath and it is complimented with side dishes, babi guling lives up to its reputation. However, the meat was slightly rough to our liking as it wasn’t as tender as we expected it.
The bill came to RP 207,000 inclusive of coconut juices. It was quite reasonable given the fame of this restaurant. While savouring the delicious pork, we were given a free treat of the beautiful paddy field located beside the restaurant. Should we ask for more?
