Yarra Valley Dairy Fresh Farmhouse Cheese
Yarra Valley Dairy Fresh Farmhouse Cheese
One of the highlights of Yarra Valley must be the Yarra Valley Dairy. My recent trip to the region surrounding Yarra River in Australia brought me to the award winning Yarra Valley Dairy. Located in the world class wine region, Yarra Valley offers fresh farmhouse cheese produced with their 200 top quality cattle.
The dairy is a wooden house with a scenic landscape. Some might mistook this as someone’s property.
There were a few exhibits of traditional dairy items as we walked in. The décor is a very old wooden classical ambience.
As we entered the shop, we witnessed the beautiful classic interior with a killer landscape.
The retail manager, Catherine came and spoke to us about the variety of cheeses available for sale. Some of the highlights must be their goat cheese, charcoal goat cheese, Juno, Black Savourine, Saffy, blue cheese and the Persian Fetta.
I never enjoy anything else than cheddar cheese especially the blue. However, with the guide of Catherine, I learned more about cheese and I managed to get more taste and aroma than usual. For some reason, I start to like blue cheese and goat cheese.
The Persian Fetta had a wonderful flavour but I couldn’t bring it back as I was told it can only last in room temperature for 8 hours. My flight alone took 10 hours including transit in Singapore so I was advised not to bring it back.
There were also customers enjoying their cuppa of coffee in the shop. They also offer other dairy products in the shop.
With a view of like this, customers can chillax. How I wish to visit this dairy weekly or even monthly.
If you wonder, where are the 200 top quality cattle? They are having their lunch too near the dairy. If you are traveling in the region of Yarra Valley, you can have a pit stop here at Yarra Valley Dairy. The cheese is well deserved recommending. If you want a wine tasting session, you can always try it at Domaine Chandon.
