Firstly it was fresh baguette with butter. The baguette was soft and delicate, loved it.
Baron Philippe de Rothschild VDP Chardonnay
It was a wine pairing lunch and they started off with Baron Philippe de Rothschild VDP Chardonnay. The chardonnay will be paired with the first starter, the Tartare of Yellow Fin Tuna.
Tartare of Yellow Fin Tuna was decorated with raspberry with Fennel Salad. The tuna chunks were fresh and it blends well with the salad. The portion was just nice and it was like a teaser to us.
Baron Philippe de Rothschild VDP Merlot
We thought the Baron Philippe de Rothschild VDP Merlot was rich and tasty. It will be paired with Bresaola of Beef on Poached celery flan with wilted spinach.
Bresaola of Beef on Poached celery flan with wilted spinach. This might looks simple but it was quite complicated. The beef and the spinach were salty but it was well balanced with the sauce and of the Merlot. It was well done.
Crustacean oil Roasted Green garoupa Fillet.
Crustacean oil Roasted Green Garoupa Fillet. The most important element for a fish based dish is the freshness of the fish. Instead of the usual pan fried, the green garoupa fillet was roasted to perfection. The sauce was not for show, it blends well with the fish and went well with exotic fish roe and French long beans. The sauce is concentrated lobster flavour.
Duck confit Tian, Parsley crust, and Truffle sauce.
Duck confit Tian, Parsley crust, and Truffle sauce. We got a little surprised by this. We assumed the duck confit came with the whole duck leg. Instead they served the shredded duck confit with tian, parsley crust and truffle sauce. it was a different style of cooking, no problem for us. You get a bit of crunchiness due to the crust and it is important to mix all the flavours together for this. Truffle sauce was marvellous.
Silver Rum Macerated Strawberry Pastilla
Silver Rum Macerated Strawberry Pastilla was the dessert of the day. Triangle wrapped filo pastry was stuffed with macerated strawberry with hints flavour of rum and delicately topped with icing sugar. Not forgetting also the creamy ice cream with rolled white chocolate.
The lunch will not be over without a great cuppa of hot coffee.
