This is definitely one of the most exciting news for tourism in Malaysia and Singapore. On top of announcing the official opening date of LegoLand Malaysia, global visitor attractions operator Merlin Entertainments Groups (“Merlin”) and LL Themed Hotel SdnBhd- a 51-49 joint venture company between Destination Resorts and Hotels Sdn Bhd (DRH) with Iskandar Harta Holdings SdnBhd (IskandarHarta), has signed a management agreement to develop and build the first LEGOLAND® Hotel (“Hotel”) in Southeast Asia, and fourth in the world.

LEGOLAND Hotel at Nusajaya Johor will be the fourth LEGOLAND Hotel to open and the very first in Asia. The ground work for the Hotel began last month. Other LEGOLAND Hotels are located in Billund (Denmark), Windsor (United Kingdom) and a third will open in California in the USA in 2013.
LEGOLAND Hotel Windsor (United Kingdom): From the spectacular entrance right through to the themed rooms, the colour, fun and interactivity of LEGO is stamped throughout LEGOLAND Hotel Malaysia, scheduled to be opened in 2014. Located on 2.4 acres of land, the Hotel will be easily accessible from the Senai International Airport, Johor Bahru, or alternatively, for those coming from Singapore, a convenient 10-minute drive via the Second Link Expressway.
Scheduled to open its doors in the first half of 2014, the themed Hotel will be strategically located on 2.4 acres of land adjacent to Merlin’s new LEGOLAND Malaysia Theme Park Resort in Nusajaya, Johor which will open in the fourth quarter of this year. The Hotel will be easily accessible from the Senai International Airport, Johor Bahru with just a 20-minute drive, or alternatively, for those coming from Singapore, a convenient 10-minute drive via the Second Link Expressway.
En.Nadziruddin Basri, Managing Director of Destination Resorts and Hotels, expressed DRH’s excitement to introduce another innovative tourism attraction to Malaysia. “We at DRH are focused in bringing new, innovative attractions to Malaysia’s Leisure and Tourism offerings and to make Malaysia a destination of choice for both local and international travellers. The LEGOLAND Hotel is set to heighten the LEGOLAND Malaysia theme park experience with its fun and interactive designs and facilities. We look forward to working with Merlin on this project and to opening our doors in 2014 and offering our guests the LEGOLAND Hotel’s unique experience”.
Siegfried Boerst, General Manager of LEGOLAND Malaysia explaining the development of the Legoland Malaysia site last month.
Mr Siegfried Boerst, General Manager of LEGOLAND Malaysia speaking on behalf of Merlin echoed DRH’s excitement. “LEGO® is one of the world’s most popular toys and has many fans here in Asia. Today’s announcement comes at an exciting time for all across the region as not only will we be offering the highest quality modern hotel accommodation, but most importantly, our magical LEGOLAND Hotels are the first ever hotels designed from a child’s eye view. The opening of the Malaysia Hotel in 2014 will also create an integrated destination resort experience for families, allowing them to spend longer quality time together exploring and enjoying the LEGOLAND Malaysia offerings and the region”.
