Famous Penang Road Cendol
Famous Penang Road Cendol
You might hear about it or you might taste it, the Penang Road Cendol is still one of the best in Penang. Cendol is a popular dessert in Malaysia.
The icy cold sweet dessert is combination of shaved ice, red beans, cendol (green noodle), santan (coconut milk) and gula Melaka (brown sugar). This dessert is a darling among Malaysians and best taken anytime of the year.
You know you are at the right place when you see this queue.
Our recent trip to Penang brought us to revisit this popular stall. As usual, the place is packed as everyone was queuing up for their favourite dessert.
The stall is popular because of its dessert not because of the “Phua Chu Kang” (the picture in the stall).
However, there are some new changes. If you want to sit inside the restaurant for this delicious dessert, the restaurant will charge you RM 0.50 for each bowl.
Not your ordinary bowl of cendol, this fares better.
I don’t mind paying the extra RM 0.50 for my RM 2 cendol rather than standing outside burning under the scorching sun. The dessert still remains the same and it lives up to the expectation as one of the best on the island. The fragrant brown sugar and also the taste and texture of the cendol highlight their superiority among the rest.
I won’t be surprised if this dessert will be listed among the best street food or dessert in the world.
