Grace Hotel Sydney Review
Grace Hotel Sydney Review
On my trip to Sydney earlier this year, I stayed at the Grace Hotel. As it was arranged by Destination New South Wales, I stayed in this hotel for two nights. I wished for more.
The hotel is located in centre of Sydney’s CBD, near King and York streets and minutes to many great attractions. Some of them are George Street, Pitt Street Mall, the Queen Victoria Bulding, Darling Harbour, Martin Place, Circular Quay, The Rocks, Chinatown and many more.
I read some of the history of this hotel as it was built by Grace Bros in the 1920s as a showpiece of their successful retail business. It is considered a prominent historical landmark of Sydney with a distinguished Neo-Gothic exterior.
I had a limo transfer arranged for me from the airport to the hotel. It was my first time staying in a hotel in Sydney as usually I stayed over in my cousin’s place.
It didn’t take long for the front desk to prepare my room. Since it was almost a century ago, the lobby still inherited the legacy from the past.
For those who loved contemporary or modern design, you might find Grace Hotel “old” in terms of design. For me, I am always flexible with designs and quite an admirer for beautiful architecture and designs regardless of age.
For the room, it was quite spacious. Considering the hotel is in the CBD area, space could be limited but that was not the case of my room.
The room was brightly lit by the natural light from the outside. I prefer bright hotel rooms than dark hotel rooms.
The room had the basic setup of king size bed, mini sofa, working desk, LCD TV, mini bar, wardrobe, air conditioner and telephone. WIFI in the room was chargeable.
It was unfortunate the bathroom was smaller in size and it came with standing shower minus the bath tub. I would love to dip into a bath tub after a long day but they didn’t have one.
It didn’t stay long enough in the hotel to be frank as I spent most of my time venturing Sydney. As I mentioned, Grace Hotel is ideally located in CBD and it is near a newly opened Malaysian restaurant, Ipoh On York. If you fancy authentic Malaysian food in Sydney, try this one.
If you want to stay in Sydney CBD with a touch of history and architecture, you can stay in Grace Hotel Sydney. It is convenient as it is located near many restaurants, attractions as well as shops. The price for stay should be above A$ 200++ per night depending on season, weekends and time of the year.
