Restoran Chan Yew Kee at Seri Kembangan

We tried at least half a dozen restaurants in Seri Kembangan area and most of them didn’t even deserved to be blogged. Some were overpriced while some were just overrated. We didn’t bother to blog about it except one, Restoran Chan Yew Kee.
chan yew kee shop
It is the hidden gem of Seri Kembangan and we have dined there various times. Please do follow the map and address below as its location is quite remote. However, it is usually packed on the evening so please book your table to avoid disappointments. The restaurant has two sections, non air-conditioned and air conditioned.

Most of the dishes names are copied from the “martial arts” names of Chinese mythology. It is hard to put it in English as I can’t read Chinese except Rachel.
chan yew kee tai char fan
If you intend to order rice, please don’t. Instead, order their infamous “Tai Char Fan” with “siew yuk” (roasted pork belly) or “prison’s rice”.  It is their version of fried rice with long beans, anchovies, egg and topped with roasted pork belly.  You must try this for a change.
chan yew kee fried large intestines
Well, fried large pork intestines were another good recommendation. Even though it was not deep fried to crispiness but the taste was rightfully done and it went well with their homemade chili sauce.
chan yew kee stuffed taufu
Their Stuffed Beancurd (tau fu) was a simple yet yummy dish.
chan yew kee steamed tilapia
Next was Steamed Thai Style “Fei chau” (tilapia) with lime was perfectly cooked. Since my dad loved tilapia, we often ordered this fish in this restaurant.
chan yew kee 70s sweet and sour pork
The other superstar dish was their infamous 1970s Sweet and Sour Pork. This 1970s version was the old version of the sweet and sour pork. The pork was coated with batter and deep fried and stir fried it with sweet and sour sauce. Have you tried this before?
chan yew kee butter crabs
Lastly, we had the Butter Crabs in the Pot. We have tried a few variations of their crabs and we wanted to try their butter crabs. They also provide the dry version of the butter crabs. We loved the gravy and it went well with deep fried mantau (fried Chinese buns).

The dinner cost us about RM 185 and it was reasonable. The restaurant might be hard to locate for first timers but as we mentioned it is usually packed. This is definitely the hidden gem and one of the best Chinese restaurants of Seri Kembangan. Will definitely visit them again!
