Dining in the Dark Kuala Lumpur

Dining in the Dark is finally here in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. I’ve seen it in Hell’s Kitchen series in US and I’ve heard about it, the nearest is in Bangkok. Imagine this, a restaurant in total darkness and you can’t see what you eat and only dependent on you other senses.

If you are Nyctophobia or fear of darkness, this is not for you. However if you want something new and memorable dining experience, you should pick up your phone and booked your table.

I was at Dining at the Dark with a few bloggers friends to review the restaurant. We were given a short introduction of the concept and the experience.

They will ask for any food allergies so they are sure that you are safe. They have did many research before operating this restaurant with field research in Europe and Bangkok.

There will be a prepared three course dinner served by their trained staff in a dark room. Mobile phones, cameras and even illuminating watches were not allowed to bring in. We were brought in to special dark dining room by their special “Darkness Experts”. Their “Darkness Experts” were consists of visually impaired and blind person who are expert in darkness.

We were seated at designated seats and we were briefed on our eateries. Then, we were given choices of drinks of wine, juice and water.

When the first dish came, it was a mixture of joy and curiousity. We were left guessing on the food served and of course we had fun getting our food in the dark.

This is what I saw during my dining experience, pitch black!

I’m not going to spoil it and reveal the dishes but rest assured the food was delicious. In fact, the portion was handsomely generous and the dessert was simply delectable.

This brilliant idea and concept was brought in by Werner (the same person who brought you El-Cerdo). I never had such a memorable dining experience. It was an evening of guessing game, good food and laughter. Thank you for inviting me for this impressive and yet unique dining experience.

It is worth every penny for this dining experience and it is only RM88++ per person. Impressed your date or share this unique dining experience with your friends or family, Dining in the Dark is a worthwhile dining experience you might not want to miss!

  1. Wow what a fascinating concept for unique dining experiences. I would love to try something like this. I wonder if they have anything similar to this in Taiwan. Does anyone know?

They have a few in Europe and in Asia, Bangkok and Hong Kong. I’m not sure whether it is available in Taiwan though. You can try if you come to Malaysia.
