Love is in the air as Valentine Day is approaching. This is the moment where couples tend to shower love, care, and hugs at each other. This time round, why don’t you show your loved ones your meaning of love by having a romantic dining moment at Renoma Café Gallery?

Parisian label, Renoma was established since 1963 by revolutionary Fashion designer, Maurice Renoma, which offers a trendy label with a wide range of fashion products from menswear, leather bags & accessories, men’s & ladies’ shoes, inner wear and other accessories. Renoma is currently available in more than 25 countries in Europe, Asia-Pacific & East Asia with over 2000 boutiques & boutique-corners retailing.  I am one of their big fans in the 1990s and I bought their shirts and jeans. They had an outlet in Starhill back then I visited them often.

Renoma has added F&B into the brand portfolio with opening of Renoma Cafe Gallery at KL, the first represent Asia, outside of Paris. Ideally situated in the famous “Golden Triangle” area in Kuala Lumpur and taking up a land area of 17,287 sq ft with a built-up area of 10,500 sq ft, RCG definitely gives you a foretaste of RENOMA Fashion with a gastronomic journey. RCG KL boasts of a large space which accommodates up to 450 people – offering a delectable and diverse cuisine with a ‘French touch’ served in a cosy urban atmosphere, spinning with cool “live” music; all these elements combine together to showcase dine, wine, music, fashion and art. I heard so much about this restaurant since its opening. In fact I have high hopes on this unique restaurant given the reputation of Renoma in art and design.

Renoma Café Gallery presents you its Valentine’s Day Special Menu with the title ‘Savour the Romantic Journey’. Chef Alven, executive chef of RCG brings two hearts together by introducing a special valentine menu inclusive 2 glasses of Champagne with the price RM 388++ per couple.

He creates a personalized menu catered for the brilliant gentleman, and another one for the gorgeous lady. Of course, the lovely couple can share all 8 courses if they love to. To be frank, I went to dearer Valentine dinners in the past and the menus were not as good as this.

I like the idea of having two different genders courses as certain dishes are gender appealing.

So what is the difference between the gentleman and the lady’s courses? The smart man will be experiencing stronger and richer taste bud in his food, while the lovely lady will fall in love with the lighter yet simple choices of food. That is really a smart way of designing the menu.

Velouté of Crustacean & Stone Crab

Surf & Turf

Let’s start off with the gentleman’s soup – Velouté of Crustacean & Stone Crab, thick cream of Shellfish with Stone Crab Meat, Blue Mussel, Brown Clam & XO Chilli Oil, followed by well-spoken starter – Surf & Turf, main course in American cuisine which combines seafood and meat; you will be surprised with Medallion of Medium Lamb Loin & Rock Lobster, sautéed with Baby Spinach & Smoked Chilli Coulis.

Earth & Ocean

As for ladies, you will be flavoured with Consommé of Kangaroo Island Marron, Boullion of Seafood with Grilled CrayFish (which is why the soup was named after Kangaroo Island), Blue Mussel, Brown Clam and Petit Pois. Earth & Ocean, the lady’s lovely starter will be served using fresh tuna which is Tataki Maguro Akami, Caramelized Foie Gras Pâté and chargrilled with Portobello Mushroom & Wild Berries.

Black Angus Tenderloin

Now, the Sorbet of the night, presenting both couples choices of Black Angus Tenderloin (Char-grilled Black Angus Beef Tenderloin, Pomme Dauphine (a crispy potato puff with the fillings of mashed potatoes), Duck Fat Baby Carrot, Morel Ragoût); for those who prefer to cruise for fish as main course, you can opt for Wild Caught Red Emperor – Oven-baked Dried Sole Crusted Red Emperor Fish, incorporated with delicious autumn vegetable, Butternut Squash Purée, Nai Pak vegetable, & Salted Yolk Emulsion.

Last but not least, the sweetheart desserts are coming to you. Chef Amanda, RCG’s pastry chef, prepares the strong Chocolate Sunrise – Guanaja Chocolate with Mango Lavender Coulis, Coffee Ice-cream & Hazelnut Crumble for the guys. Ladies, chef will indulge you with hearty berries – Strawberry Sunset, with pampered Strawberry Fraiser Mousse Cake with Passion Fruit & Mango Coulis, Raspberry Sherbet & crispy Praline Croustillant.

With the beautiful settings, the dinner was an enjoyable with local live band. If you are looking forward for a memorable Valentine Day dinner to impress your partner, you might consider this.

This romantic dinner journey will only applicable on 14th Feb 2013, which is the actual day of Valentine Day.
