Parkroyal On Pickering Review
Parkroyal On Pickering Review
Last month, in a conversation with my media friends, I told them that I didn’t visit Thailand or Singapore in 2012 and it will be a dream comes true if I can visit both countries in 2013. My wish is granted as I received a call from Singapore Tourism Board’s representative for a media trip to Singapore. It was 3 days 2 nights free and easy trip with Rachel.
In Singapore, we stayed at Parkroyal on Pickering, one of the newest hotels in the Lion City. Located in the vicinity of Chinatown, the hotel outlook looks more to an architectural masterpiece. The building almost took the whole block of Pickering road facing a small park.
The hotel is located beside the Hong Lim food court and also a stone throw away from the Chinatown MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) station. You never get more convenient than that.
We reached the hotel early and the staffs were very accommodative. We requested a temporary room and it was given without many questions asked. If you do care about first impressions, Parkroyal on Pickering staffs have it all. To make life harder for them, we requested a higher floor level which they quickly managed one for me, again without questions asked.
The room is small but smartly designed. We stayed on the 11th floor and have a great view of the offices nearby. To be honest, the location is not blessed with the best view of the town but the room is comfortable enough.
If you need a more contemporary design hotel room, Parkroyal on Pickering has it all. The whole concept of the interior is amazing down to the furniture.
They have touch screen buttons, something new and innovative that I don’t see in most hotels I’ve visited recently. It is an open concept room so there are no doors or walls in between the bathroom and the bed. It is a room for couples in short.
If you visit their website, you find impressive pictures of their swimming pool. The concept of the pool area is hanging garden.
You can find colourful onion shaped gazebos by the pool. Furnished with pillows, you will have a relaxing time in the gazebos after a few laps in the pool.
The view from the pool might not be as spectacular like the one from the Sands but you have a glimpsed of the lesser crowded city view here.
The breakfast is quite impressive at LIME. LIME is the café located near the lobby. At LIME, they serve Asian and Western cuisine for their breakfast.
LIME might not be spacious but intimate in space. You can’t complain on their food and services, they are pretty good for breakfast.
Overall, Parkroyal on Pickering is an eye opener for me. I have reviewed their hotel in Penang recently too. Parkroyal on Pickering is still the new kids on the block. Even though some argued that their location might not be strategic but personally I enjoyed the convenience of the hotel with close proximity to Chinatown and MRT station.
