Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel
Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel
There are definitely only a handful of five star luxury hotels in Johor Bahru. Recently in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya, opens a new Renaissance Hotel. Under the Marriot Group, Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel is a new landmark in this part of Johor Bahru.
The hotel looks enormous from far. If not mistaken, this is the biggest Renaissance hotel in the country.
The first impression when you stepped in to the lobby is this hotel is spacious. It has high ceiling, a huge chandelier and a few sofas.
The front desk staffs were friendly and helpful. They are definitely well trained and it won’t surprise me if this hotel received many Singaporean guests as the hotel located very near the Lion City.
I stayed 2 nights in their Junior Suite. I’ve stayed in many junior suites during my trips but to be honest, this is one of the best junior suites up to date. I’m not getting paid to write this or any obligations to write this either. The Junior Suite was impressive.
Firstly, it was the size of the suite. I realized that many hotels in Malaysia offer Junior Suites but only a handful is what they offered. It is either they oversell the junior suite or they overcharged the junior suite. For the price you are paying, the Junior Suite at Renaissance Johor Bahru is reasonable.
The suite comes with a huge living room with stand alone toilet that comes with sofa set, flat panel TV and also coffee table set. You can have small meetings, discussions or host your friends or family here.
For the bedroom, you get a King Size bed with four pillows. There are spaces all around, comfortable ambience and a big flat TV. They have an iPod dock for music on the bedside table.
The bathroom was humongous! If that is correct word to describe it, the bathroom comes with a huge wardrobe with bathtub and standing shower. A Jacuzzi will perfect it.
This should be the standard size for a Junior Suite’s bathroom. It is almost the size of most budget hotels’ basic rooms.
On top of the stay, the restaurants inside the hotel are worth the mention. Wan Li Restaurant serves Chinese cuisine. It has an exciting menu with dishes like coffee chicken and durian prawns.

BLD Café on the other hand offers Western and International cuisine. Their dinner buffet is worth to try and definitely one of the best in town. BLD Café is often packed with diners even on weekdays, book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel. Even though it was a short stay but the overall experience was satisfying. In my own opinion, there is a lack of luxury hotels in Johor Bahru. With the influx of Singapore tourists in thousands every weekend, they ran out of options on where to stay in JB. Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel is an option now and they also offers event rooms for private and corporate functions.
