Orchard Road Christmas Lights Pictures 2013

This is the 30th year of Christmas Lights show in Orchard Road and I’m humbled to be part of it this year. I am invited to Singapore by Holiday Inn Express, to witness the Light Up Ceremony at Orchard Road. There, I met up with media and bloggers from ASEAN and took a Hippo Bus Tour.

For this year, the colour of the lights are blue and white. It is a white Christmas and it reminds me of the white Christmas celebrations in Tokyo. The LED lights are fully sponsored by Hitachi Singapore and it took more than 10,000 hours to install the lights. If put together the LED lights stretched more than 20 km in length! Installation is done in the middle of the night and they took a week to fully install the beautiful white and blue LED lights.

(Christmas on a Great Street is the theme for 2013 and they have been nominated as many best in the world)

That’s why every year, thousands of visitors around the world travelled to Singapore to celebrate Christmas and to see the famous Orchard Road Christmas Lights. The best Christmas I’ve ever celebrated is in 1990 where I spent more than 12 hours venturing Orchard Road with my family. I was awe-struck by the Christmas Lights in Orchard. The closest experience to this is Times Square in New York and Osaka Japan. Thank you again Holiday Inn Express to host me.
