It’s understandable that the majority of holidaymakers heading for the shores of Lanzarote are in search a fabulous beach break, to help wash away the stresses of everyday life and enjoy some well-deserved relaxation, but for those who want to experience a little more as part of their holiday abroad, Lanzarote holidays have much more than beautiful beaches to offer.

Sure, the resort complexes will have everything you could possibly need and, with a short walk to the beach, you can enjoy a day on the sands too, but with plenty of attractions to fill your itinerary, it’d be a shame to stick to the beaches alone. Here are some of the top attractions that the island has on offer.

Timanfaya National Park

Lanzarote is a volcanic island and with trips to its national park, you will be able to see the barren landscapes up close. A far cry away from the beach resorts you may be accustomed to, coach trips or a hire car will help you to see a completely different side of the island.

Jardin de Cactus

Head to Guatiza for the day and you could enjoy a leisurely walk around almost 10,000 cacti brought together into one breathtaking garden. Grab a drink on the terrace as you admire these natural beauties – don’t get to close though, those spikes can hurt!

Los Hervideros

If you’re looking for some incredible natural beauty, Los Hervideros is where to go. Located near to Playa Blanca, just inside the Timanfaya National Park, this system of blowholes and sea caves show the magic of nature at its best.

If you have time and you’re a lover of art and architecture, head for the underground home of local artist Cesar Manrique – his work is incredible and his home, which has been created from a partially collapsed lava tube, is superb!

Spend some time away from the beach and step away from the pool – Lanzarote has an abundance of attractions begging to be explored!
