Koon Kee Wantan Mee Petaling Street
Koon Kee Wantan Mee Petaling Street
If you ask the older generations, they said this is the best wantan mee in Kuala Lumpur. It is no other than Koon Kee. I still remember my mom sing praises of this restaurant. It has been operating since 1942 and the restaurant is run by third generation now. Thus, they are doing franchise too (who doesn’t nowadays in Malaysia).
It has been donkey years since I’ve eaten here so I decided to visit the place again. Like the old ys, the restaurant remains the same. Nothing fancy on its interior, it is just a plain old Chinese restaurant.
I won’t order anything fancy but their signature wantan mee. It comes with thin noodles, sliced char siew and two wantans in the soup. The inflation takes its toll in this plate of noodle as you can count the pieces of char siew and wantans.
The taste is definitely good but it didn’t have the ‘wow’ factor it used to have. Anyhow, it still deserves a visit if you are in Petaling Street. For the title of “best wantan mee in KL”, they are definitely a contender but not a winner.

Same as my parent. They always think this is the best wantan mee in KL. I personally prefer white wantan mee. ^^
Hi Ler,
Where is this white wantan mee? In Johor?

There is a semi-restaurant at Petaling Street next to Hong Leong Bank & Western Union where they only provide an open space for dining & they don’t sell any meals but drinks. They will trick you that they sell many kinds of meals, so that they will charge you a fortune for any meal that you order because they will order the meals from the nearby hawker stalls plus their commissions, e.g. a plate of simple chicken rice will cost you RM10.
