Famous Tai Zi Ta Mini Egg Tarts Taman Muda
They have been around Taman Muda for years and I wrote a short piece of it six years ago. I still they remember when they started in Taman Muda and it didn’t take long for them to get popular. Even back then, there were queues.
It is a small shop by the roadside sitting on Jalan Bunga Tanjung 10a and not Jalan Bunga Mawar 2. Their shop is sandwiched between the BHP Petrol Station and 7-Eleven at Jalan Bunga Mawar 2. Jalan Bunga Tanjung 10a also known as “Taman Muda Wai Sek Kai” and there are many things to eat too like Chinese mixed rice stalls and BBQ Pork Ribs Wonton Mee.
It started off with RM 0.50 per piece and now it shot up to RM 0.70 per piece. It is pricey because there is lots of workmanship involves and selling it fresh is not easy as well.
The pre-made the tarts’ shell pastry and they will pour fresh scrambled egg onto it and put it into the oven. Then they well sell it hot from oven in boxes of 10s.
Of course they have other version with coconut flakes and some other biscuits but I stick with the mini tarts. It is small and easy to pop into your mouth and that’s why it is so addictive. It is best to be eaten as dessert or during tea time. These tarts are pork free but they are non-Halal. So if you see a long queue from a mini shop in Taman Muda, it must be your lucky day to get some delicious mini egg tarts.

Hi there Wilson. Tq for ur article. May i ask how are these tarts pork-free (i assume they don’t use lard), yet simultaneously non-halal?
– butter or unhealthy margarine ?
– kampung egg or unhealthy industrial egg ?
– hen fed with GMO corn/GMO soy ?
