Mun Wah Hokkien Mee Jalan Mahajarela
Mun Wah Hokkien Mee Jalan Mahajarela
It has been years since I eat at Mun Wah restaurant. Located at Jalan Mahajarela, Mun Wah is famous for their Hokkien mee and it is usually packed during evening till late. The restaurant is located at the main road and can be easily spotted but parking could be tricky.
I decided to sit outside (more cooling and free air pollution) of the restaurant as they set up tables and chairs. Surprisingly most of the waiters are comprised of men in the 40s and 50s with a few foreign workers.
It took them 20 minutes to serve my plate of Hokkien mee. I don’t blame them as the place was packed and I can hear some complains from the next table about the waiting time.
Some say you have to wait for good food and I don’t mind waiting. At last, my plate of Hokkien mee comes in a decent portion and it is priced at RM 7 (it must be the inflation). Well, the taste is definitely better than many but missing the wow factor. The surprising part is the amount of ingredients in the plate and to the fact that I can count them. The plate comes with only one prawn, one piece of pork, one piece of pork liver and a few strands of vegetables. Maybe I’m just unlucky but that is all it has in that plate of Hokkien mee.
There is other food available such as mantis prawn, deep fried calamari rings and deep fried fish cakes but I might try that another day.
The Hokkien mee might not be impressive but they are the better one of out the lot.

used to come here a lot, according to my parents it was originate from a old restaurant near the old klang bus station. Had stop coming here to dine for some years due to standard drop. It is sad that most of the restaurant in malaysia cannot maintain their standard due to cost raising.
