Pulau Ketam Steamboat Restoran Tiang Seng Taman Desa
Pulau Ketam Steamboat Restoran Tiang Seng Taman Desa
There is one steamboat in Taman Desa that needs to introduction and it has been there for years and often visited by the locals including expats like Japanese. The restaurant is called Restoran Tiang Seng, Pulau Ketam Steamboat.
Located at 34A, Jalan Desa, Taman Desa, the restaurant is named as Pulau Ketam (a popular island in Selangor for its fresh seafood) as most of the seafood is sourced from there. They offer traditional steamboat and they charge per head set meals (min. two persons).
They have no fancy broths or fancy food. Most of the food available is common food but why are they always packed? It all goes down to the freshness and quality of their food.
I always order their traditional broth as it tastes simple and nice.
They serve crispy fried shallots in bowls. Some might hate this but I always love the greasiness of this and the aroma of the fried shallots. Since they fried the shallots, I enjoy having the food with the extra crispy texture.
Even though there is no picture of their chili sauce but it is something you should look for. They prepare their own chili sauce and not the bottle ones many others offer.
It is true that Japanese are picky eaters as not because they are fussy but they go for quality food. When you spot tables of Japanese eating at Tiang Seng, do you question their food anymore? I do not. Most of them stay in the area and often enjoy themselves with the extra few bottles of beers or their own liquor.
When I ran out of idea what to eat and if I want something fresh, simple and healthy, Tiang Seng remains one of my choices in Kuala Lumpur. Don’t worry, you would not burn a hole in your wallet to eat here.
