Matta Fair 2014 Preview

I looked at the date and it is March. What is in March? It is the first instalment of Matta Fair 2014 and this will be an interesting one. The biggest travel fair in Malaysia is definitely a crowd puller with travel companies, airlines and tourism organizations offering unbelievable travel deals like previous years.

This year will be an interesting Matta Fair as there was an AirAsia Travel Fair weeks before and also the AirAsia Free Tickets Promo. It is AirAsia’s first travel fair and it was a success. There are queues daily from 9am to 11pm during the fair. There were also tourism organization and travel companies in the travel fair too.

There will be many local tour operators pushing local travel packages as it is Visit Malaysia Year 2014 after all so travelling local is a great option. Islands at the east coast of Malaysia are open for business during this time of the year and it is the right time to get travel packages to these islands.

Thailand is always a great place to travel and Bangkok is back to business. If you like islands, there are Koh Samui, Phuket and Koh Lipe. Of course there are plenty more islands to explore in Thailand.

Songkran is happening next month and this is the right time to get the right packages to Thailand. Some say Phuket is the best for Songkran while others recommend Bangkok and Chiang Mai. In my opinion, wherever you are in Thailand for Songkran, you will get memorable wet experience.

The Bangkok Motorshow will be happening soon too and I will be in early April. Just say hi if you bumped to me there and do get advantage of the promotional fares from AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines during this travel fair.

If you want to explore more than the usual tourist places, self-drive in Southern Thailand is another option you should try. Driving in Thailand is easy, fun and safe. Recently, I self-drive with my friends for almost two weeks and we loved it! They are Land of Smile after all.

This is the perfect time to visit Australia now as AirAsiaX and Malaysia Airlines offer direct flight to Adelaide, Perth, Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne from Malaysia. In addition, Malaysia Airlines also offer direct flight to Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia. To visit Tasmania, you can fly through Melbourne or Sydney.

Self-drive in Australia is cheaper and fun. If you are in Adelaide, you can try to self drive to the Eyre Peninsula and Port Lincoln is a great stop and also to towns like Barossa Valley. Barossa Valley offers the best vineyards in the region.

In Melbourne, you can self drive to the beautiful Great Ocean Road, Ballarat and Grampians. Thus, you can also drive to Yarra Valley, Philip Island and Mornington Peninsula too.

In Sydney, there will be Vivid Sydney in May where colourful projections will be displayed on iconic buildings such as the Opera House. It is an annual event where you will be mesmerized by the colourful projections.

In the city, you can climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge, enjoy a lunch buffet on Sydney Tall Ship Cruise or enjoy dinner buffet at Sydney Tower. Get the Sydney iVenture Pass and enjoy special discounts on many attractions around Sydney and do not forget to visit beaches like Bondi and Manly as they are a beauty!

Thus, if you want to explore more out of the city, you should visit Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley and Port Stephens.
