Matta Fair March 2014 Review
Matta Fair March 2014 Review
The biggest travel fair in Malaysia is back! Yeah, if you are looking at the best travel bargain in the country then you should head to Matta Fair at PWTC (Putra World Trade Center) tomorrow.
Few things I noticed about this year’s Matta Fair.
The Mall (the shopping complex opposite PWTC) is under reconstruction to Sunway Putra Mall. Thus, most of the previous travel companies that exhibit in the Mall now shifted back to PWTC so every travel companies are now exhibiting in PWTC.
Malaysia Airlines is not participating at this Matta Fair. At this moment of time with the disappearance of MH370, it is right for Malaysia Airlines for not participate this travel fair. Thus, you still can purchase their tickets in many travel companies such as Sedunia Travel.
Tourism Authority of Thailand booth is Hall One offering travel tips and information to all the tourist attractions in Thailand. They have the biggest LED screen in the fair and showing videos of many destinations in the Land of Smile. Travel booklets and maps are available at the booth but while stocks last. There are representatives who can answer all your questions on destinations in Thailand.
(Tourism Authority of Thailand Kuala Lumpur with delegates from Bangkok)
This is the right time to visit Bangkok as AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines are currently offering promotions to flights to Bangkok from Kuala Lumpur. Interesting events coming up in Bangkok includes Bangkok International Motorshow and also Songkran Water Festival. If you have time, do visit places like Cha Am and Hua Hin which are just hours away from Bangkok.
Tourism Australia booth is at Hall 2 and Western Australia is the star for this fair. Even though I have not been to Western Australia yet but places like Perth and Margaret River are some of the places you should be missed!
You can also get information on South Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania and Queensland. There are representatives who can help you with travel information in the states mentioned.
Korea Tourism Organization is located at Hall 1 M (Mezzanine floor) and with hot destinations like Busan and Jeju Island, you can visit them for more tips and advices.
Tourism Macau is also located at Hall 1 M (Mezzanine floor) and do take your picture on their interactive photo booth.
There are many big travel companies participate the fair such as Holiday Tours and Travel and Airlink Travel.
Singapore Airlines makes its presence felt in Hall 1 with its promotion as well as the introduction of their new economy seats. I took a look at their promotional fares and they are unbelievably affordable.
Japan National Tourism Organization has one of the biggest booths in Hall 1. With the increase flights from AirAsiaX and the weakened Yen, Japan has seen the record breaking tourist arrival from Malaysia last year. So far I have travelled to Kansai once and I never worked with their tourism board.
Lastly, good luck in hunting your best travel deals and packages. I will be travelling to Bangkok next month and pending trips in May and June and remember to follow us for more travel tips.
