Kabocha Sushi Lat Phrao Bangkok
Kabocha Sushi Lat Phrao Bangkok
Just a stone throw away from Lat Phrao MRT Station in Bangkok, there is one Japanese sushi restaurant that is worth the trip. The restaurant is called Kabocha Sushi and they imported their seafood directly from Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo, Japan.
The restaurant is on the upper floor of a small bungalow lot with yellow colour sign light board. The place offers a cozy and humble place for sushi but don’t be fooled by its outlook. By dinner time, the restaurant is packed with guests and even tourists. My best friend, Peter brought me there and when I checked on the review of this restaurant, the restaurant is rated as one of the best sushi restaurants in Bangkok.
You will be greeted by smiley faces and we got our tables soon enough before the crowd moves in. The restaurant is beautiful decorated with wood and smartly designed to make the place comfortable and you wouldn’t mind the air conditioned during the hot days.
When you dine in a restaurant offers Tsukiji Market seafood, you expect to pay premium prices for it. To be fair, the price tags on their sushi very reasonable as the taste of the food will blow your mind away.
Well, Peter ordered the California Roll. California Roll being California Roll is never meant to impress but please take note that Kabochi Sushi serves authentic wasabi and not the powder type wasabi.
Their unagi sushi comes with generous size of the eel. I love the taste of the unagi, the thickness of the size, the soft texture and the sweet sauce and it goes well with the rice. I had a few pieces of this.
It was our lucky day as there was a promotion on their wagyu beef so we tried their Grilled Wagyu Beef. Well, I enjoyed this. I love the soft texture and heavenly taste of the wagyu. Thank god they didn’t over cook this!
The star of Kabocha Sushi must be this, Foie Gras Wagyu Beef Sushi. It was at a promotional rate of THB 220 per piece and we ordered half a dozen. Just image foie gras and wagyu beef stacked together in a piece. Close your eyes first, then take a bite and enjoy the taste of the best of worlds. It is as good as enjoying a well prepared Kobe Beef! Just because I have high cholesterol if not I will order a dozen of this! The foie gras was pan seared to perfection and this is my first having both in a sushi.
I truly enjoyed the hospitality and the food in Kabocha Sushi. I will definitely go back there again for the foie gras wagyu sushi. My best friend said he will join me for that any time any day!
Kabocha Sushi is located at Lat Phrao Soi 19. When you exit Lat Phrao MRT Station near the Park and Ride Complex, turn right on the main road (Lat Phrao) and walk till you reach Soi 19 (on your right). You will notice the restaurant once you are there.
