Burger and Lobster Michelin Top UK Pub in London
Burger and Lobster Michelin Top UK Pub in London
One thing I learned from my UK (United Kingdom) trip is their pub food. There is at least a pub in every town and pubs are everywhere in cities. The name “pub food” might not sound interesting but they are not that boring actually. Most pub food in London offers beer, fish and chips and steak but they are decent food. They are cheaper than proper restaurants but slightly pricier than take-away restaurants.
Recommended by my friend Anne Lim, Burger and Lobster is one of the most popular places to dine in London as they are highly recommended in Michelin Top UK Pub Guide. They have five outlets now in London and they are opening a new outlet in New York in Falls 2014.
We went to the Mayfair outlet by accident after misread Anne’s SOHO outlet address. Don’t ask me how. The Burger and Lobster Mayfair outlet is located at 29, Clarges Street and it is a stone throw away off the Green Park Tube Station.
There is no reservation and you need to be there to reserve. You can either wait for your table or they will call you back. For dinner time, waiting time can exceed two hour if you reached the restaurant around 6 pm. Most of their customers will chill at the bar or nearby bars for the waiting period.
What to eat in Burger and Lobster? Of course, burger and lobster and we skipped the burger and order only lobsters. They have the lobster roll, steamed or grilled lobster and we ordered one each and they cost 20 pounds each.
The lobster roll is delicious toasted bread stuffed with freshly cooked lobster. To be frank, this is one expensive lobster roll but it taste great. The lobster meat is fresh with great texture and it goes well with the toasted bread. Remember to sprinkle the roll with the lemon.
The steamed lobster comes with salad and chips. This is as fresh as you can get for lobster. As it is steamed, the lobster is juicy and flavoured on its natural state. This is addictive and it goes well with their signature lemon butter sauce.
Like the steamed lobster, the grilled lobster is simple and nice. Complimented with salad and chips, you will definitely fell in love with the lobster. It was grilled to perfection and it goes well as well with the lemon butter sauce.
It was a feast of lobsters and the bill comes to around 100 pounds inclusive of wine and beer. Thank you Anne for the dinner and it is one of the most enjoyable dinner we had in Europe. The lobsters were simply palatable. Will definitely go back there again. For more info, follow their Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/burgerandlobsterRWGenting/
