Laduree Avenue des Champs-Élysées Paris
Laduree Avenue des Champs-Élysées Paris
Travelling to Paris for the first time? What is the must try food in Paris? If you ask friends who visited Paris, they will say Laduree. Some might say it is overrated but they will still insist you check it out.
What is Laduree?
Laduree is a French luxury bakery and sweet maker house. Established since 1862, it is one of the best known makers of macarons in the world (not just France). Thousands of macarons are sold daily and most of their outlets in Paris are packed with long queues.
Which is the best outlet to visit? I prefer their Avenue des Champs-Élysées outlet as I can shop and also visit some of the important attractions around.
(A wet Avenue des Champs-Élysées with Arc de Triomphe at the background)
Avenue des Champs-Élysées is a boulevard of 1.9 km long and 70 metres wide. It has appeared in many movies especially Hollywood films, magazines, books and post cards. It is near Place de la Concorde, Place Charles de Gaulle and also the famous Arc de Triomphe is located. That’s why is convenient to visit the Laduree Avenue des Champs-Élysées outlet.
As expected there is a queue outside of the outlet. Maybe due to the rain, the queue wasn’t that long.
You might hear about Parisians don’t speak English at all. That is so 90s, most of them speak simple English or at least they will try to explain. Things definitely have changed in Paris from what we have heard.
We thought the queue is only outside of the outlet but as we stepped in, there is another long queue. Most of them are take-away customers.
The waitresses here are superbly friendly and in minutes we got our table. Once we sat down, she reminded us to take care of our belongings as there were thefts inside the restaurant before. Yes, there were thefts inside Laduree too.
We only ordered the macarons and a drink as we just had our lunch. Our mission is just to taste their famous macarons.
4 mini macarons au choix (9.9 €)
They have dozens of different flavours of macarons in store. You just need to pick 4 of them and it is almost 2.5€ each so do eat it with care. It is pricey! You don’t call it luxury bakery for no reason.
The taste of the macarons?
It is definitely good and heavenly. Is it overrated? I am not sure you how to define overrated but they are tasty for sure.
Laduree chocolat viennois
We ordered Laduree chocolat viennois because it was very chilly and wet afternoon. Their version of chocolat is thick but compliments well with the cream. It is great for the chilly weather.
Sadly, our tummy couldn’t fit in more food especially the awesome looking pastries. So, we tasted “the best macarons” in the world at Laduree and no regrets. After Laduree, we walked further down Avenue des Champs-Élysées to visit arc de triomphe.
(The majestic Arc de Triomphe and it was a wet and chilly afternoon)
Will I come back again for Laduree? Yes, I will for their other pastries. Is it worth the money? If you travel all the way to Paris, why not experience it?
