Okonomi Fusion Japanese Solaris Dutamas
There is a new Fusion Japanese is making its name in Solaris Dutamas and it is called Okonomi. Okonomi is located at A4-G2-02 Solaris Dutamas (beside Old Town Restaurant and opposite Publika).
I went there for lunch with my brother and my friend as we heard so much about this restaurant on Facebook.
Okonomi offers a small but cozy dining experience and the restaurant offers fusion Japanese cuisine. One of their highlights is their sushi menu. Instead of the traditional sushi menu, you can custom made your own sushi. Yes, you read it right and you can custom made your own sushi.
There are three sizes to start with. Choose either Small, medium and large starting from RM 13.90. See picture for more info.
Then, choose white or brown rice, Maki or Uramaki (wrapping style) and then sea weed or soy wrap. You have to pay extra for soy wrap but it is worth it.
Choose your fillings of vegetables, seafood & meats or premium fillings (with additional charges). Please see the picture for more info as we are not going to list the whole menu here.
Lastly, choose your sauces & dressings as well as toppings. Additional dressing and topping will cost you extra.
We ordered two custom made sushi as you can see the sushi making process video as below.
Custom made white rice sushi with seaweed, fried ebi (prawn) with spicy mentai sauce and ebiko.
Custom made white rice sushi with seaweed, fried ebi (prawn) with spicy mentai sauce and ebiko. Okonomi makes their own sauce and the ingredients are freshly made. I enjoyed their rice as it is cooked properly, the crunchy fried ebi and the yummy spicy mentai sauce. It is so well seasoned, you do not need soy sauce or wasabi for this.
Custom made brown rice sushi with soy wrap, asparagus, salmon with honey mustard sauce.
Custom made brown rice sushi with soy wrap, asparagus, salmon with honey mustard sauce. This is better than the first one. The soy wrap is the surprise element and it is imported from US. I love the texture of asparagus with salmon. This is really good.
Avacado Prawn Sushi (RM 18.90)
Avacado Prawn Sushi comes with a generous portion with eight prawns! They told me it is their common practice to serve with eight prawns. They are freshly cooked and not the frozen type and you can tell from the texture of the meat. It goes well with the freshly sliced avocado and of course the salad.
Crab Korokke (RM 9.90)
Crab Korokke is deep fried breaded crab meat with poached butter and cream sauce. Many mistaken this as potato but it is not. They used SCS butter with their home made cream sauce for this.
Chicken Karaage (RM 9.90)
Chicken Karaage is deep fried marinated chicken breast with oat breaded skin.
Soft Shell Crab Pasta (RM 16.90)
This is one of their popular dishes, the soft shell crab pasta. The soft shell crab is imported and the cook their special sauce with sesame sauce and topped with ebiko.
Wait how about the drinks? They offer variety of matcha (green tea) or azuki (red bean) drinks and desserts.
Matcha Latte (RM 7.90)
Matcha Latte is the result of their special green tea recipe infused with latte. This is very delicious and enjoyable.
Matcha Float (RM 12.90)
Matcha Float is iced green tea with home made green tea ice cream. You can change it to their home made vanilla ice cream too. If you are a green tea lover, you will crave for this.
Matcha Azuki Shiratama Latte (RM 12.90)
Matcha Azuki Shiratama Latte is similar to Matcha Float with additional azuki (red bean).
Azuki Float (RM 12.90)
Azuki float is red bean drink with vanilla ice cream. They cooked the red bean for eight hours to create the drink. This is not sweet and very addictive.
Matcha Lovers Parfait (RM 18.90)
Matcha Lovers Parfait is a twist of azuki shiratama parfait for matcha lovers with addition of soft serve matcha ice cream and matcha chocolate bamboo stick.
Matcha Lava Cake (RM 16.90)
Matcha Lava Cake is not just an ordinary green tea lava cake. I enjoyed the green tea fragrant lava cake and its beautiful green tea sauce. The matcha chocolate bamboo stick is home made as well as their vanilla ice cream. Words can’t explain how good is this lava cake and I will definitely come back for this. This is so addictive.
Overall, the food impressed me especially the custom made sushi and also their matcha food. The matcha lava cake is highly recommended.
