Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art Itaewon
Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art Itaewon
This is one of the Samsung owned properties I visited during the Incheon Asian Games 2014 last year. I was one of the few social media influencers invited to Incheon by Samsung Korea and it was one of the most amazing traveling experiences in my life.
One of the highlights of the visit was to visit Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art located in Itaewon. The museum is an international art and cultural centre for display of Korean and world art.
When you step into the building, you will be greeted by unique sculptures. One of them is this weird looking sculpture created outside of the museum.
Once I entered the museum, there is also another beautiful looking deer sculpture. It is created entirely balls of glasses or crystals in different sizes. If you look at it carefully, you will understand the complication in creating this masterpiece.
Thus, the late Hoam Lee Byung-chul, the founder of Samsung, had displayed his beloved collections of Korean national treasures and art pieces in the Ho-Am Art Museum, Ho-Am Gallery, and the Rodin Gallery. Inheriting the founder’s will, Mr. Lee Kun-hee, the Chairman of Samsung, has been passionately collecting fine artworks of Korean and international contemporary artists, accumulating and preserving Korean treasures with a high historical value.
The interior of the building is a beauty but only the main area is allowed for photography.
The exhibits and the art collection are not allowed for photo and videography. Hence, you can also rent the audio set which contains various language and it will trigger itself once you walk near to any art or painting in the museum.
If you are into history, you can spend hours appreciating the history and art collections in Leeum. What surprised me is how complete and how the late founder of Samsung, spent his life in collection all this collections of Korea national treasures and art pieces.
They are sure a beauty and you can learn so much of the history of Korea from these Korean national treasures. This museum is an eye opener.
If you have time, you can also visit Samsung Innovation Musuem, Samsung D’Light, Samsung Guide Dog School, Ho-Am Art Museum and Samsung Everland Theme Park.
