Satun 35th International Kite Festival 2015
Satun 35th International Kite Festival 2015
Last week I was invited for the Satun 35th International Kite Festival launch in Satun, Southern Thailand. It is one of the biggest kite festivals in the region.
The kite festival first started in 1976 before it turns to an official international event in 1992.
You can find many types of kites and there were kite competition and kite show from the local Thai and 10 international countries. Malaysia is one of the international countries participating in the festival.
There are also many activities during the festival which includes beautiful kite contest, local kite contest, kite demonstration, kite exhibition, Miss Satun Pageant Contest, food and beverages stalls, cultural performances and concerts from popular Thai singers every night.
It is expected to have 30,000 locals and 10,000 international visitors attending the Satun Kite International Festival.
You can find many local street food here and there are probably dozens of stalls selling different local food.

The festival is packed every day and at night, it is like a mini concert where popular artists take the stage.
This is not just a Kite festival but an overall festival for the locals and international visitors. Satun 35th International Kite Festival 2015 is a huge success and maybe I will visit the kite festival again next year.

I manage to do a short interview with Satun Governor Dejrat Simsiri during the event too. He talked about his plan of boosting tourism in Satun.
Satun is a province in Southern Thailand bordering Malaysia state Perlis. The best way to visit Satun is via road thru Wang Kelian in Perlis. You can also take a ride from Hatyai which takes around 2-3 hours. Satun has one of the most beautiful islands in Thailand, Koh Lipe.
It is easy and fun to drive to Satun and other parts of Southern Thailand. Get your FREE copy of The Easy Fun Self Drive in Thailand South Region at TAT office at Suite 22.01, Level 22, Menara Citibank, 165, Jalan Ampang, 50450 Kuala Lumpur.
Is it bigger than the previous world kite fest in Johor?
