Wat Khien Bang Kaeo Phatthalung

Phatthalung province is in between Songkhla, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Trang. To visit Phatthalung, the easiest way is to drive from Hatyai.

Phatthalung is a more eco-friendly province. You can visit the Thale Noi Waterfowl Reserve or Khao Banthat Wildlife Reserve.

I stumbled upon Wat Khien Bang Kaeo while traveling in that area. It is a temple located in  Moo 4 Tambon Chong Thanon, Khao Chaison District, Phatthalung. (I have attached the exact GPS location at the bottom of this article).

The temple is built in 939 Srivichai Period and it still looks like new with its white colour exterior. This is one of the oldest historical sites of Phatthalung.

During my visit, it was already late evening and the temple was closed but I still managed to take a few picture before the sky turned dark.

The best way to visit Phatthalung is to self drive or rent a car from Hatyai. The province is quite laid back so do not expect loud music nightlife but a calm retreat for eco lovers.

It is easy to drive to Phatthalung and other parts of Southern Thailand. Get your FREE copy of The Easy Fun Self Drive in Thailand South Region at TAT office at Suite 22.01, Level 22, Menara Citibank, 165, Jalan Ampang, 50450 Kuala Lumpur.
