1. Hatyai Ice Dome (Update: Hatyai Ice Dome is permanently closed since early 2016 and replaced by Hatyai Wonders Land)
What ingenious way to create an ice dome in Hatyai? Hatyai’s weather and climate is similar to Malaysia and Singapore, hot and wet unlike north provinces such as Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai. Basically, it is hot or rain all year round.
A couple of years ago, Nakhon Hatyai Municipality jointly with the Tourism Authority of Thailand had this crazy but interesting idea of creating an Ice Dome to attract more tourists locally and internationally.
They wanted to build an Ice Dome but not just an ordinary Ice Dome but to be one of the best in the region! Thus, they invited the best ice sculptors to create the ice sculptures in Hatyai Ice Dome. If you talk about ice sculpting attraction, Harbin China is the best in the world. Thus, they invite Harbin ice sculptors to create the ice sculptors in Hatyai Ice Dome.
To make it more interesting, every year, Ice sculptures will be rebuilt so you won’t get to see the same thing every year. You will get to enjoy -15 degree Celsius within the Ice Dome and the Ice Dome is located in Hatyai Park (foothill of the Hatyai Park Hill)
